This Japanese dual-sport bike will be a great competitor to the Hero Xpulse 210 and the Kawasaki KLX 230, if launched in India

    Quick Highlights:

    • Launched at a price of BRL 29,990 (around Rs 5.12 lakh) in Brazil

    • Uses same engine as the old Yamaha FZ-25 that used to be sold in India

The 2026 Yamaha Lander 250 has been launched in Brazil, priced at BRL 29,990 (around Rs 5.12 lakh). It is designed to balance everyday usability with genuine off-road capability, and aimed at riders who want a rugged, go-anywhere motorcycle without stepping into heavyweight adventure territory.

    What’s New

For 2026, the Lander 250 gets an updated design. There is a new fascia with an LED projector headlight (replacing the older version’s regular LED headlight), redesigned beak and slightly tweaked tail section. The tank shrouds too, seem to be a little different, but they still look as sharp as before. Overall, the 2026 Lander 250 carries a purposeful, adventure-ready look with upright ergonomics that promise comfort over long distances.

Yamaha has also equipped the bike with a new LCD instrument cluster, which now supports smartphone connectivity for SMS/call alerts and to access with the Y-connect application.

    What's Unchanged

Powering the Yamaha Lander 250 is a 249cc, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that produces around 20PS, 20Nm and comes paired to a 5-speed gearbox. It is the same engine as the now discontinued Yamaha FZ-25, and is known for offering a good balance of tractable low-end performance, and decent highway cruising ability.

The bike uses a double cradle frame, and features long-travel suspension (220mm front wheel travel and 204mm rear wheel travel), insane 240mm ground clearance, spoke wheels with tubed tyres, and front and rear discs with ABS.

Adding to its global relevance, the 2025 version of the motorcycle was also showcased in India at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 (also known as Auto Expo 2025), where it drew considerable attention from enthusiasts. However Yamaha did not give any launch timeline back then. Yamaha seems to now have its hands full with the XSR155’s fantastic sales, and also will be busy with scaling up availability of the recently-launched Yamaha EC-06

That said, if Yamaha were to bring this 250cc adventure bike to India, it would be at the right time as the entry-level dual-sport/ADV segment is booming with the popularity of the Hero Xpulse 210, and Kawasaki KLX 230. Speaking of the XPulse 210, here's how the Lander compares to it. If the Yamaha Lander 250 launches in India, we expect it to cost around Rs 1.80 lakh (ex-showroom).
