Yamaha FZ-X Features Explained

The Yamaha FZ-X feature list is modest but useful for the price

The Yamaha FZ-X combines neo-retro design with a practical set of features for daily riding. It is priced at Rs 1,25,670 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the regular variant, and Rs 1,45,110 (ex-showroom Delhi) for the Hybrid one. Here are the goodies they get:

Convenience Features:

The standard variant gets an LCD instrument console that displays essential information. This includes the speedometer, tachometer, traction control status, fuel gauge, odometer, trip meter, and other tell-tale lights. Sadly, there’s no connectivity or turn-by-turn navigation.

On the other hand, the Yamaha FZ-X Hybrid variant gets a more premium-looking TFT console. This one gets smartphone connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation. The app connectivity also enables other functions such as call and SMS alerts, phone battery level, fuel consumption tracker, maintenance alerts, last parked location malfunction notification and other telemetry data.

The motorcycle gets an LED projector headlight and an LED tail light. The standard model gets bulb indicators whereas the Hybrid variant comes with sleeker LED indicators. The Hybrid also gets a silent starter with stop-start feature. This automatically shuts off the engine while it idles for some time in traffic.

Safety Features:

Both variants come with a single-channel ABS. There’s also a rudimentary traction control system that prevents the rear wheel slip on low grip surfaces. While this isn’t necessary on such a not-so-powerful motorcycle, it will be useful for beginner riders. Then there’s also a side stand engine cut-off that disables the ignition if the side stand is down.

BikeDekho Says

Yamaha gave most of the useful features to the Hybrid variant, which is a whole Rs 19,440 costlier than the regular variant. The regular FZ-X itself is pretty fuel-efficient, so if you’re not very keen on fancy features, then this one will do. If you’re willing to pay more up front for an even more efficient engine, along with a good set of features, then you can consider the Hybrid variant.

Easy to Handle Anywhere

Went for this bike because it’s known for strong build and mileage. My cousin uses the same one. It’s light, easy to ride, and pocket-friendly. Also liked the simple look. Very stable, easy to ride in traffic. Rides nice and steady. Doesn’t shake much even at high speed. Engine sound is smooth and clean. Good pickup, comfortable, and mileage still above 50 km/l. This bike smooth control, brakes work sharply. You can go for it without worry. Best for daily runs, especially if fuel cost matters. Ideal for city users. Low maintenance, smooth engine, and good for beginners too. Rides steady, doesn’t feel heavy at all.Read More
