Yamaha FZ-Rave Launched: Here’s What’s New On the Sportiest-Looking Yamaha FZ
The bike features some bits which should have been present in the other FZ bikes
Yamaha has recently launched the FZ-Rave; it’s the newest model in the FZ lineup. The bike gets a more aggressive design and some other changes which makes it stand out. Here’s a brief overview of everything that’s new:
Aggressive Looks
The aggressive looks of the Yamaha FZ-Rave set it apart from the other models in the brand’s lineup. It gets a new headlight which looks quite similar to the on the now-discontinued Yamaha FZ25. But there are some differences, and this one is a projector LED headlamp, which should offer better illumination.
The headlight gives the bike that sporty looks, and makes it feel like a higher capacity bike. Other bikes in the FZ lineup feel quite weird with the small headlight, which is flanked by the massive tank extensions. The new headlight on the FZ-Rave makes it look and feel a lot more proportionate, and we think it's a really good change.
It gets a shorter tail-section with a more compact-looking taillight. This one also looks similar to the taillight that we had seen on the Yamaha FZ25. This, combined with the new headlight, makes the bike look quite sporty and aggressive.
New Colours
The bike is offered in two colours: Matte Titan and Metallic Black. Both the colours are subtle shades, and feature some sporty looking graphics. In both the colour schemes, the bike gets red-painted alloys which draws a lot of attention.
Overall, we think these colours are nice but they're a bit too subtle in our opinion. We wished the brand had given the bike a more flashy colour scheme as well to compliment its sporty looks.
What Remains The Same?
Other than these slight changes in design, the bike shares a lot of similarities with the Yamaha FZ-S Fi V3. It is powered by the same 149cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine, which produces 12.4PS and 13.3Nm.
Price
It is priced at Rs 1,17,218 (ex-showroom, Delhi), which is Rs 4,525 more expensive than the Yamaha FZ-S Fi V3. With the new design, we think this is a fair premium. With the launch of this bike, the Yamaha FZ-S and FZ-Fi lineup now includes 6 models. Apart from this bike, Yamaha plans to launch 5 new motorcycles this year; here’s what we think they might be.
