VinFast Electric Bike Design Patented In India

The design patent reveals a sporty and futuristic-looking bike

Quick Highlights

  • VinFast has filed a design patent for a high-performance electric bike in India

  • It is based on the Sulad concept unveiled in Vietnam earlier this year

  • Expected to be powered by a 50 kW motor with a top speed of 130 kmph

Vietnamese EV manufacturer VinFast has filed a design patent for a new electric bike in India. The motorcycle patent looks a lot like the Sulad concept, which was unveiled in Vietnam earlier this year. The brand had also filed a patent for the Viper electric scooter earlier, and with this newest patent, it plans to expand its presence in the country.

What Does The Patent Reveal?

From the design patent, we can see a faired motorcycle with clip-on handlebars and rear-set footpegs, which would give it a sporty riding position. It gets a single seat, sleek tail section, and minimalistic bodywork, giving it a futuristic look.

While VinFast has not officially revealed any details about the bike, Vietnamese media reports have suggested that it could be powered by a 50 kW motor, which they claim will deliver performance similar to 600cc petrol-powered bike. The media reports also claim a top speed of 130 kmph. However, the range, battery capacity, charging time, and other features are yet to be revealed.

From the patent image, we can also see an inverted fork and a monoshock. The bike also gets twin discs at the front along with chunky slick tyres to enhance its road presence.

BikeDekho Says

While there is no official confirmation about the launch of this new electric bike, the latest patent filings suggest the brand is evaluating expanding its presence in India. If launched, it will be a good option for buyers looking for a high-performance electric bike.

The brand also plans to introduce entry-level scooters in India, which would further strengthen its position in the growing electric scooter market.
