BMW Motorrad has teased a compact and sporty-looking streetfighter motorcycle through its social media channels. It is suspected to be the upcoming BMW F 450 R, which is going to be a street-naked bike based on the F 450 GS platform. Here is all you need to know:
The BMW F 450 R is going to be the brand’s most affordable streetfighter motorcycle. Based on the new 450 platform, this bike will get the same engine as the F 450 GS. However, the tuning is expected to be slightly different to suit its streetfighter character. The silhouette in the teased image looks quite similar to the F 450 GS, but with a more aggressive stance and a compact roadster-like design.
What To Expect From The BMW F 450 R?
The F 450 R is expected to use the same 420cc, parallel-twin engine as the BMW F 450 GS. On the adventure motorcycle, this engine produces around 48 PS and is paired with a six-speed gearbox. BMW could tweak the engine mapping and gearing on the F 450 R to make it feel more responsive in city riding and quicker out of corners.
The motorcycle is also likely to share some of its hardware with the F 450 GS, including its chassis and braking components. However, the suspension setup could be different, with road-focused tuning and a lower ride height. The overall design is expected to be sharp and compact, with a muscular fuel tank, exposed mechanical bits and a sporty tail section.
The teaser also suggests that BMW is keeping the motorcycle fairly compact, which should make it easier to handle in everyday riding conditions. More details about its features, electronics and cycle parts will be revealed at its global unveiling.
When Will The BMW F 450 R Be Unveiled?
BMW Motorrad will officially unveil the new F 450 R on October 1, 2026. The motorcycle is expected to make its India debut sometime next year, although BMW has not confirmed the exact launch timeline yet.
Expected Price And Rivals
Once launched in India, the BMW F 450 R is expected to be priced at around Rs 4.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). At this price point, it will go up against motorcycles such as the Aprilia Tuono 457, giving BMW a new contender in the growing middleweight streetfighter segment.
With its compact dimensions, twin-cylinder engine and BMW badge, the F 450 R could offer a different take on the performance roadster formula when it arrives in India.
