BREAKING: Upcoming Harley-Davidson Sprint 440 Unveiled
This cruiser bike surely looks tempting and an a proper scaled down version of bigger Harleys
Harley-Davidson has taken the wraps off its upcoming cruiser, the Sprint 440. Developed in partnership with Hero MotoCorp, the new motorcycle is aimed at riders looking for another accessible entry into the Harley-Davidson experience, other than the X440. The Sprint 440 gets a lightweight construction, a low seat height and a simple single-cylinder engine, while retaining the American manufacturer’s familiar cruiser styling. The Sprint 440 will be sold across global markets, with availability and launch timelines varying depending on the region.
Design And Colours
The Sprint 440 carries a classic cruiser design, with a few familiar Harley-Davidson elements. It gets a round suspended headlamp, a sculpted fuel tank, a bobbed rear fender and a single-piece fastback-style seat. The overall silhouette is fairly compact, with a narrow profile that should also make it easier to handle in everyday riding conditions. Other design highlights include machined engine detailing, 10-spoke alloy wheels and a tapered exhaust muffler. The motorcycle will be offered in three colour options: Dark Billiard Gray, Vivid Black and Teal Thunder. All three shades get orange tank graphics with a checkered pattern and Harley-Davidson branding. There is also a new ‘Harley Hare’ character graphic on the side panels, representing the motorcycle’s focus on agility and fun.
Engine And Performance
Powering the Sprint 440 is a 440 cc, single-cylinder, air/oil-cooled engine producing 27 PS at 6,000 rpm and 38 Nm at 4,000 rpm. It gets a long-stroke setup, which is designed to deliver stronger low-end performance and make the motorcycle easier to ride in city traffic. The engine also features a single overhead camshaft, electronic fuel injection and a gear-driven counter-balancer to keep vibrations in check. The motor is paired to a 6-speed gearbox, with overdrive ratios in fifth and sixth gears for more relaxed highway cruising. It also gets an assist-and-slipper clutch, which should make gear shifts easier while reducing clutch lever effort. Harley-Davidson claims a combined fuel efficiency of up to 34 kmpl, while the fuel tank has a capacity of 9 litres which is quite low.
