BREAKING: Hero Xoom 160 Launched In India

Hero’s first maxi-scooter is here and starts at Rs 1,48,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Quick Highlights:

  • Hero Xoom 160 launched in India
  • Gets a 156cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine which makes 14PS & 13.7Nm
  • Prices start from Rs 1,48,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi)

Hero MotoCorp has launched the much-awaited Xoom 160 maxi-scooter in India. Prices for the scooter start from Rs 1,48,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The 160cc Hero scooter is available in four colours: Canyon Red, Matte Rain Forest Green, Summit White and Matte Volcanic Grey.

Design

The Hero Xoom 160 gets a similar design language which Hero first showcased on the concept model over two years back. The Xoom 160 comes with a proper maxi-scooter design which consists of a large raised front-end, dual-LED headlights, a large flyscreen, an ADV-styled front beak, and beefy side panels which makes the scooter stand out. The side profile gets a centre tunnel on the floorboard which houses the fuel tank and a long single-piece which looks comfortable enough for two well-sized adults. The rear section comprises a slim LED tail light and a raised tail section. The overall look is enhanced by the block pattern tyres and the large alloy.

Engine and Underpinnings

The Hero Xoom 160 is powered by a brand-new 156cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled engine which makes 14PS and 13.7Nm, and is paired with a CVT. The suspension duties are handled by a telescopic fork and dual-shock absorbers. The braking duties are handled by disc brakes at both ends and the scooter rides on 14-inch alloy wheels wrapped around with block-pattern tyres. The scooter has a ground clearance of 155mm which is good enough for our roads and an accessible seat height of 787mm.

Features

In terms of features, the Xoom 160 comes with dual-pod LED headlights up front, though the indicators are bulb-type. It gets a digital instrument cluster and is the same unit as the Hero Xoom 110 Combat Edition. Other features include keyless ignition and idle stop-start to increase the overall mileage of the scooter.

Rivals

The Hero Xoom 160 goes against the likes of Yamaha Aerox 155 and the Aprilia SXR 160 in India.

Winner from Hero!

Absolutely the best in its segment. Feels like you are riding a bike. Much better than Aerox in terms of riding posture, comfort and overall performance. Some minor quirks like a dated instrument cluster, unimaginative glove box, limited storage etc. Engine performance and acceleration is nice - Aerox is tad faster. Go for Xoom 160 without a doubt!Read More

Major Hit with some Flaws

I chose this bike as I wanted an upgraded version, bigger tyre size, better power, and with an ABS, good suspension and a bit of off-roading as Mumbai roads are pathetic . So no other bike in the market offers these things aerox is there but it has a harder suspension that is tough on shoulders positive ride , for someone who uses the scooter for daily commute this is a major upgrade than most of the scooters available in the market. The pickup is good , braking is amazing , the handling is a bit hard, it is just the engine sound that is a bit off Yes I would recommend this bike to anyone who uses Burgman scooters in that segment if they are looking for an upgraded version. Every scooter has its ups and downs but here the ups are more and it is the most practical choice in the Indian market.Read More
