BREAKING: Hero Rides In With The Sportier Xtreme 160R
The naked is more powerful and sportier with a new 4-valve engine

After creating a lot of anticipation with the teasers, Hero MotoCorp has launched the updated Xtreme 160R 4V, and it is now more powerful, premium and sportier than ever. It is priced at Rs 1,27,300 for the standard, Rs 1,32,800 for the Connect variant and Rs 1,36,500 for the Pro variant. Prices ex-showroom Delhi. The standard variant is Rs 5,064 more expensive than the previous standard 2V variant.
For the premium, here’s all that you get:
Powering the Xtreme 160R 4V is a new 4-valve air-cooled engine, with an oil cooler displacing the same 163cc. It is also more powerful than before and makes 16.9PS and 14.6Nm. The 2-valve model makes 15.2PS and 14Nm. With the 4-valve upgrade, we expect more refinement from the engine, and maybe even more thrill.

While the Standard and Connect 4V variants get a telescopic fork, the Pro 4V variant runs a more premium 37mm KYB USD fork suspension. This should ideally result in a more sophisticated riding experience. The rear monoshock, alloy wheels and petal discs stay the same as the 2V model. That said, we would have really appreciated the inclusion of dual-channel ABS on this one. With updated hardware, among other things, the kerb weight has gone up by around 5kg and tips the scales at 144kg and 145kg for the Standard and Pro variants respectively.
In terms of appearance, the bike retains the same aggressive design language and sharp styling of a streetfighter as the 2V model. However, for a much sportier appeal, the bike comes draped in new shades and graphics, and a new split seat setup. That said, the split seat is only available on the Pro variant, whereas, the standard variant still gets a single-piece seat.

The Hero Xtreme 160R already featured all LED lighting, a segment first, and a digital console for basic readouts and the 4V has carried over the same. Now the standard variant gets smartphone connectivity with call and SMS alerts, whereas the Pro and Connect variants get Hero Connect 2.0 with a lot more features to offer. We shall update the story with more info on the features shortly. Oh, and the switchgear is updated as well, and it looks more premium than before.
Now that the Xtreme 160R gets a 4-valve motor and is more powerful, it will rival the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Bajaj Pulsar N160, and Suzuki Gixxer even better. Even with the premium, the Xtreme 160R is the most affordable 160cc bike in the segment and has a lot to offer. Deliveries for the bike to commence from second week of July.
