Aprilia India has launched the Aprilia SR 125 hp.e and the Aprilia SR 175 hp.e in the country. The SR 125 hp.e costs Rs 1,19,999, while the SR 175 hp.e costs Rs 1,27,999. Note that these prices are as per the current GST. They will get even more affordable under GST 2.0 (effective September 22) as under the new scheme, the GST rate is 18% instead of 28%. As per our calculations, the Aprilia SR125 hp.e will cost around Rs 1,09700, whereas the Aprilia SR175 hp.e will be around Rs 1,17,999 (all prices ex-showroom, Maharashtra).
Apart from the bigger engine in the SR 175, both the SR175 and SR125 hp.e scooters come with updated consoles, new colour schemes and console-related features.
Aprilia SR 125 hp.e
The Aprilia SR 125 hp.e looks similar to the regular Aprilia SR125, but it gets slightly refreshed graphics on its body panels. The scooter is available in three colour schemes: Matt Black, Glossy Mazda Grey + Matt Black, and Glossy Red + Matt Black. It is powered by a 124.45cc air-cooled, single-cylinder engine that produces 10.60PS at 7400rpm and 10.4 Nm at 6200rpm (same as the regular variant).
More importantly, the scooter now gets a 5-inch TFT instrument console with Bluetooth connectivity. It is equipped with features like call and SMS alerts, music control, turn-by-turn navigation, ride stats among others. The scooter comes with an all-LED lighting setup, and a front disc brake with CBS (Combined Braking System) as standard. The Aprilia SR 125 hp.e directly rivals the TVS NTorq 125 and the Suzuki Avenis 125.

While Aprilia has got the SR125 up to modern times with the hp.e version, it still lags behind in terms of practicality. Aprilia couldβve offered a larger underseat storage, and an external fuel filler cap to make the scooter a bit easier to live with.
Aprilia SR 175 hp.e
Though the Aprilia SR 175 hp.e is a new model altogether, the scooter looks a lot like the Aprilia SR 160 but with small tweaks to the design. It comes in two colour schemes: Matte Prismatic Dark and Glossy Tech White. The scooter is powered by a 174.7cc, air-cooled, single cylinder engine that produces 13.26PS at 7,200rpm and 14.14Nm at 6,000rpm. For perspective, the Yamaha Aerox, its primary rival, produces 15PS and 13.9Nm.

This scooter too is equipped with the same 5-inch TFT instrument console, and gets the same features for connectivity as the SR 125 hp.e. Apart from this, the rear monoshock in the SR 175 hp.e is preload-adjustable, as opposed to the non-adjustable unit in the 125cc scooter. Also, the 175cc scooter gets single-channel ABS with a disc brake at the front, while at the rear, the drum brake is shared between both the SR 125 and 175 hp.e versions. The Aprilia SR 175 directly rivals the Yamaha Aerox 155, but isn't as powerful.
While Aprilia has got the performance and pricing fairly bang-on, weβd have liked it if the brand had given a brand new design for the SR175. The SR160 has been on sale for quite some time, and itβs starting to show its age, especially when you look at its rival, the Yamaha Aerox. A completely refreshed design couldβve made the SR175 a much more wholesome value-for-money sporty scooter in our opinion.
