The 250cc scrambler will replace the TNT 25, which was discontinued last year

  • The Leoncino 250 is Benelli’s take on a quarter-litre scrambler.
  • It carries over the same design language as its elder sibling, the Leoncino 500.
  • Packs a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC motor.
  • Expected to be priced around Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 2.7 lakh.

We have learned that Benelli India has a little surprise planned for us after the much-awaited launch of the Imperiale 400. To get right to the point, the Italian brand is all set to launch the Leoncino 250 in India by mid-November. Considering the TNT 300 is currently sold in India for Rs 2.99 lakh, we could expect the brand to price the quarter-litre scrambler at around Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 2.7 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).

The Leoncino 250 carries over the same neo-retro design language from its elder sibling, the Leoncino 500 — with more compact proportions. The oval LED headlight setup, paired with the curvy 14-litre fuel tank, accentuates the motorcycle’s retro-modern lineage, while its stubby tail section is complemented by a fat 150-section rear tyre. On the feature front, the Leoncino 250 gets LED lights and a full-digital instrument console.

Powering the Leoncino 250 is a 249cc, single-cylinder, liquid-cooled DOHC engine, which belts out 25.8PS at 9250rpm and 21.2Nm at 8000rpm. The bike employs a fat 41mm upside down fork and a monoshock suspending the steel trellis frame. Anchoring the Leoncino 250 is a single 280mm petal disc up front and a 240mm petal disc at the rear, with dual-channel ABS as standard. Its 17-inch wheels come wrapped in 110-section front and 150-section rear tyres. It weighs 153kg (dry), which is 6kg heavier than the 250 Duke.

Once launched, the Leoncino 250 will go up against the Honda CB300R priced at Rs 2.41 lakh (ex-showroom).
