It's been a long time coming, and now it's finally here. Bajaj has launched the smaller capacity Pulsar NS with a rear disk brake! This new equipment means the Pulsar NS160 will now command a premium of around Rs 2,000 over the single-disc variant, taking its price tag to Rs 84,602 (ex-showroom Maharashtra). Apart from the additional braking force, the bike remains unchanged.
Since the NS160 is based off the NS200, most of the bodywork is carried over apart from the chunky tyres and the bigger engine. Also carried over are the clip-on handlebars, a segment-first. It gets split seats, split grab rails and a semi-analogue instrument console. Its tyres seem to be a letdown, though, considering its the skinniest in the segment. However, they provide exceptional stability and poise. Taking into account the new rear brake setup, expect the bike to weigh around 1-2kg more than the base variant.
Powering the Pulsar NS160 is a 160.3cc, single-cylinder, oil-cooled DTS-i engine producing 15.5PS of power at 8500rpm and 14.6Nm of torque at 6500rpm. It comes mated to a 5-speed transmission. The engine is nestled inside a pressed steel rigid perimeter frame that is derived from the NS200 and imparts sharper handling dynamics when compared to conventional frames.
Suspension duties are taken care of by conventional telescopic forks up front and a gas-charged monoshock at the rear. Disc brakes at both ends account for braking duties. Its 17-inch alloy wheels come shod with 80/100 and 110/80-section tyres which offer good grip.
In terms of competition, the Pulsar NS160 goes up against the Suzuki Gixxer (Rs 82,606), TVS Apache RTR 160 4V (Rs 84,535), Yamaha FZ-S Fi (Rs 83,042) and the Honda CB Hornet 160R CBS (Rs 91,099, all prices, ex-showroom Pune). The above-mentioned bikes come with a rear disc brake. Notably, the Suzuki Gixxer and Honda Honda CB Hornet 160R are the only two bikes which offer ABS as an option.

Good handling and medium breaking, medium performance for short time city and highway riding, good sharp stylish looking naked bike, good road presence, low service charge with medium mileage 30 to 40 kmpl. Long ride comfort is not good after 100km. Wrist pain and shoulder pain, good handling bike. It's give you confidence to flicker very easily. Front break is good stopping power but too much abs kicking problem, rear brake is not good, no stopping power. Top speed after 2nd service 124 highest, mileage not that good 40 km after simple riding. If you ride aggressively, mileage can drop upto 30-25 kmpl. Can recommend this bike to the youngsters who go to college and those who want to explore many places on bike. My pulsar NS 160 is still in excellent condition with all documents and riding experience is awesome and bike is also fast and reliable. It also offers dual channel Abs and it has less maintenance cost and it gives immense pleasure to ride. The bike is good handling and performance but the mileage is not that good, it gives me 30-35 kmpl mileage. Meanwhile, the other 160 segment bikes give more mileage and it's not that smooth at higher revs, feels too much vibration. I got this bike when i was 18 back in 2019, after almost 6 plus years and 30 thousand kilometres. I personally see this bike as the best value for money one can get. Apart from that this bike is still relevant after all these years. The one thing i like the most about this vehicle is its handling. If maintained well this bike gives a smooth and comfortable ride be it in city or highway. Mine is twin disc variant with single channel ABS, break bite is quick enough to react in emergency breaking situations. The only con I have noticed so far is bajaj's parts durability. Though they offer parts at cheaper rates comparatively but still it becomes a headache when you need to replace them more often. Will recommend this bike any day. For me this is a perfect package of commuter, adventure, long riding basically everything. I have done 500 kms in a single day stopped at every 100 kms for nearly 30 mins and the bike performed very well.
