  • Ather 340 and Ather 450 to go on sale in Chennai soon.
  • Pre-bookings can be made through Ather Energy’s website.
  • Ather 340 and 450 prices may differ in Chennai in comparison to Bengaluru.

Ather Energy will finally be expanding its reach to Chennai in the coming months. The company has announced that pre-bookings for its electric scooter, the Ather 340 and Ather 450, will begin from July 24. After Chennai, the company plans to commence operations in Pune, Hyderabad, Delhi and Mumbai.

Ather Energy is in the process of setting up its public charging infrastructure, the Ather Grid, in Chennai. Customers will also have the option of charging their e-scooters at Ather Points for free for the next six months.

The Ather 340 is priced at Rs 1.13 lakh while the Ather 450 gets a price tag of Rs 1.28 lakh (both, on-road Bengaluru). Expect these prices to change in Chennai considering the different tax structure in Tamil Nadu. We expect the company to reveal the prices of the scooters soon.

So what are the people of Chennai in for? Well, with our brief time with the Ather 450, it managed to create quite a bit of an impression on us. And that’s for a good reason. The e-scooter comes packed with features such as all-LED lighting, a highly intuitive fully-digital instrument console with GPS navigation, different ride modes, and more. It also packs the highest underseat storage space in the electric scooter segment at 26 litres!

Powering the Ather 450 is a 5.4KW (7.34PS) brushless motor that churns out 3.3KW (4.4PS) of continuous power and 20.5Nm of peak torque. This helps the scooter complete the dash from 0-40kmph in 3.92 seconds.

The Ather scooters compete against the Okinawa Praise and the recently launched 22Kymco iFlow e-scooter.
