This is how Ather's upcoming electric bike should look like

Ather Energy entered the electric scooter segment with its uber futuristic Ather 450. It then took it up a couple of notches with the 450X. The company has also announced its plans to make an electric bike in three-four years’ time. So how will its first electric motorcycle look? Well, Bengaluru-based designer Sreejith Krishnan Kunjappan has given us a clear picture, quite literally, with his electric cruiser concept rendering.

He has taken inspiration from the form factor of a shark and also the logic of a shark’s ability to migrate long distances. He seems to have combined these two aspects with the inherent sportiness of Ather’s design language and rendered this performance-oriented cruiser. He has also taken some of the crucial design elements of the scooter like the signature green trellis frame and the green monoshock and implemented them in the rendering.

The LED headlamp appears to have a slight resemblance to the Revolt RV 400. He has made sure the ergonomics is laid back with raised, easy-to-reach, wide handlebars. This, along with the somewhat tall windshield, should make long-distance riding a breeze. Apart from a TFT instrument cluster, the bike also gets a mobile phone dock with a wireless charger neatly integrated into the tank. Once the phone is docked, the TFT console will mirror the phone’s screen, which can then be used for functions like navigation, call alerts and the likes.

The battery pack is housed within the frame and the electric motor is located right below it. If Ather were to really build an electric cruiser like this, we’d expect it to offer a range of about 150km in the real world.

We think the tail section could’ve been stubbier with the licence plate holder integrated into a rear tyre hugger. That would have accentuated the bike’s meaty rear tyre and complemented the muscular mass-forward design well. Nevertheless, this is still an excellent rendering with minimalistic form and function, just like Ather’s electric scooters.
