Bajaj Auto recently launched a new variant of the Chetak electric scooter, called the Bajaj Chetak 3001. This variant is meant to be an upgrade to the Chetak 2903 (which will likely be discontinued soon). It is now also the most affordable variant of the Chetak, but with almost all the necessary features. With the addition of the Chetak 3001, the electric scooter now comes in 4 variants and here’s a detailed breakdown of what each variant has to offer.

Though the Chetak 3503 and 3001 have lower top speeds than the other two variants, the difference isn’t all that much, especially when commutes are restricted within the city limits. That said, if you want a balance of reasonable performance and range, the Chetak 3503 makes sense.

As you can see from the table, the underpinnings are the same across all the variants, so this aspect will not matter much when you are looking to choose the right variant. It’s good that Bajaj offers a front disc as standard across all the variants as it ensures better safety than a front drum. Do note that the soon-to-be-discontinued Chetak 2903 has a front drum.

The touchscreen and the full-fledged Google Maps navigation makes life a lot easier on the top-end Chetak 3501. That said, the lack of these features in the lower variants are not necessarily deal-breakers as they still get turn-by-turn navigation. If you’re looking to save money, the base 3001 has all the necessary features, importantly, the same large 35-litre underseat storage as the rest. As for navigation, you may simply invest in a good phone holder. Bajaj should’ve given the 5-litre glovebox at least as an option in the lower variants as that would’ve made them a bit more practical for everyday use.

If you’re looking for a feature-loaded scooter, the Chetak 3501 makes a lot of sense as it costs as much as the 3502 but gets better, a more feature loaded instrument console and a slightly faster charging time. For those with budget constraints, the Chetak 3503 should be ideal as it offers a good combination of range, features and practicality.

I had to change only tyres and regular service only one auxiliary battery of Rs. 800 had been changed.
