The Ducati Monster has received a whole bunch of updates for 2021

Ducati strikes again and this time by launching the 2021 Monster in India at Rs 10.99 lakh, or about Rs 1.48 lakh pricier than the BS4 Monster 821. The bike is offered in three colours and two variants, and you can check out the colour-wise prices in the table below:

Colour

Ex-showroom Price (Pan India)

Monster Red

Rs 10,99,000

Monster Aviator Grey

Rs 11,09,000

Monster Dark Stealth

Rs 11,09,000

Monster Plus Red

Rs 11,24,000

Monster Plus Aviator Grey

Rs 11,34,000

Monster Plus Dark Stealth

Rs 11,34,000

For 2021, the Monster gets a host of updates. The most noticeable is the sleeker design, apparent with the oval LED headlight and more muscular fuel tank. Consequently, the Monster looks much sharper and slimmer than its predecessor, despite having a bigger engine.

Speaking of engine, the Monster 950 is powered by a 937cc Testastretta L-twin engine borrowed from the Multistrada 950, putting out 111.5PS and 93Nm, 2.8PS and 7Nm more than the ’821.

To keep an eye on the extra ponies, the Monster 950 gets a new extensive electronics package. This includes lean-sensitive traction control and ABS, three riding modes (Urban, Touring and Sport), Wheelie Control EVO, Launch Control EVO, and a bi-directional quickshifter, all accessible via a 4.3-inch TFT display.

2021 Ducati Monster vs Ducati Monster 821 Differences Explained

The Monster promises a sportier ride too. This is achieved thanks to a new monocoque chassis (based on the Panigale V4), a repositioned handlebar (70mm closer to the rider), and a weight of 166kg (18kg less than before!). The new frame continues to be sprung on the same non-adjustable 43mm fork, though, while Brembo M4.32 calipers continue to help shed speed.

Ducati also offers the Monster in a ‘Plus’ variant, which gets a front visor and a seat cowl, in addition to the standard kit. At Rs 25,000 more than the base model, we feel the pricing is a little absurd for merely cosmetic additions.

In the market, the 2021 Ducati Monster goes against the Triumph Street Triple RS and the Kawasaki Z900. The former costs Rs 36,000 more but justifies it by offering an additional 12PS along with adjustable suspension and Brembo M50 calipers, while the latter undercuts the Monster by a massive Rs 2.57 lakh.
