  • The BS6 Kawasaki Ninja 650 is priced from Rs 6.45 lakh (ex-showroom).
  • It gets sharper styling, new LED headlamps and two new paint options.
  • Also new is a colour TFT instrument console with smartphone connectivity.

The BS6 Kawasaki Ninja 650 has been unveiled in India. It gets a cleaner motor with cosmetic and feature updates. The BS4 Ninja 650 costs Rs 5.89 lakh for the Standard variant and Rs 5.99 lakh for the KRT Edition. Kawasaki will price the new Ninja 650 variants between Rs 6.45 lakh and Rs 6.75 lakh (ex-showroom). The Ninja 650 is expected to be launched in February. Kawasaki has already unveiled the 2020 Z900 and Z650 in India. Both motorcycles are expected to be launched in the next couple of months.

While Kawasaki has not disclosed the new BS6 motor’s power output, we expect it to be similar to the BS6 Z650’s powerplant. The 649cc parallel-twin motor delivers 68PS at 8000rpm and 64Nm at 6700rpm. While power remains the same, torque has dropped by 1.7Nm and comes 200rpm higher. We expect the BS4 Ninja 650’s 6-speed gearbox and assist and slipper clutch to be carried over.

Other than a cleaner motor, the 2020 Ninja 650 gets cosmetic updates. The fairing has been revised and the front end now looks similar to the Ninja 400 and Ninja ZX-6R. It gets two new colours: white-black and the green KRT edition. The motorcycle now gets twin LED headlamps as well as a 4.3-inch colour TFT instrument console that can be connected to your smartphone via the Kawasaki Rideology app. While the underpinnings remain unchanged, the 2020 Ninja 650 gets stickier Dunlop Sportmax Roadsport 2 tyres.
