The Suzuki Gixxer is all set to get a complete makeover, and here’s what you can expect from the upcoming naked motorcycle

Now that Suzuki has launched the all-new Gixxer SF, the bike maker is planning to launch its naked variant, the 2019 Gixxer, in India soon. With the new update, the Gixxer will get a complete makeover. So let’s take a closer look at the new-gen Gixxer to give you a fair idea of what to expect from the upcoming naked motorcycle.

Major design overhaul

Images of the 2019 Gixxer have been leaked online, giving us a clear look at the upcoming motorcycle. Unlike the current-gen model, the 2019 Gixxer will sport a new design language as seen on the 2019 Gixxer SF. What’s more, the new Gixxer’s fuel tank will be much sharper than the one on the model it replaces. Both the front and rear end have been restyled as well. Along with the black paint job, the updated Gixxer will also be available with a new dual-tone blue/black colour option.

The new Gixxer will be BS6-ready.

Suzuki will plonk the same 154.9cc single-cylinder motor from the new Gixxer SF in the new naked. In the faired variant, this motor churns out 14.1PS at 8000rpm and 14Nm at 6000rpm, paired to a 5-speed transmission. And to comply with new emission norms, the naked variant will get fuel-injection.

New set of features.

The upcoming naked motorcycle will feature a new LED headlamp instead of the current model’s halogen unit. Additionally, the leaked images also hint that the instrument cluster will be similar to the one on the new Gixxer SF. The new instrument cluster features a new display. It’ll continue to pack readouts such as speed, revs, fuel level, dual trip meters, odometer and a clock.

It will share the same underpinnings as the older model.

The new Gixxer will be equipped with the same components as the older model. So, it will feature the same telescopic fork and rear monoshock as well as the same set of disc brakes at both ends. Single-channel ABS will be offered as standard.

It will be priced at a premium.

Suzuki hasn’t revealed the price of the 2019 Gixxer yet, but looking at the changes, we expect the 2019 Gixxer to command a premium of Rs 10,000 over the current model. The current-gen Gixxer retails at Rs 88,941 (ex-showroom Delhi). When launched, the 2019 Gixxer will rival the Honda CB Hornet 160R, Bajaj Pulsar NS160, Yamaha FZ FI Version 3.0 and TVS Apache RTR 160 4V.
