While there aren’t many options to choose from, here’s our pick

Bajaj has unveiled the 2019 Dominar 400 with a couple of new updates befitting the power cruiser badge. The new Dominar 400 will be offered in two paint schemes at launch - a unique green paint job, which is a real head-turner, and a matte black one. There is, however, a third colour (red) which will be made available based on customer demand. The limited colour options are due to the bike being a part of a niche segment. Offering a vast colour pallet will add to the cost of production and doesn’t make sense unless it’s a high-selling motorcycle. If we had to pick a colour from the limited option that we’ve got, it would most likely be...

Black:

Stealthy and sinister, it’s a colour that goes well with almost anything. The colour black represents strength and authority. In fact, the older version was offered with a matte black paint job as well and we must say it increased its visual appeal even more. Besides, the contrasting effect provided by the silver upside down forks and dual-tone alloy wheels looks pretty cool to our eyes. However, it’s a little too simple for a bike that looks this good. Moving on then...

Red:

Bajaj revealed the 2019 Dominar 400 for the first time through an advertisement in early January. And that was the first instance where the 2019 version adorned a revised red paint job with silver-painted USDs. Though the colour was on offer with its predecessor as well, the 2019 version gets different textures. Rather than sporting a solid red colour scheme on the body panels, the new Dominar 400 features a dual tone effect. Yes, red is a colour associated with all that’s fast on two wheels or four. Think Ducati and Ferrari. Let's face it, not all bikes can carry it off, but in this case, red does make the Dominar 400 look the part. If you like being noticed, the 2019 Dominar 400 finished in red will not disappoint. That much we are sure of. And while we love the shade, Bajaj says it won’t be available at launch until there’s high demand.

Green:

That this shade of green, or “Aurora Green” as the folks from Bajaj like to call it, is our pick. Yes, looks are subjective. And we’re sure there will plenty of you who would disagree with us. But allow us to explain why we love this colour on the Dominar 400. First off, it’s a fresh and new colour and while we've already seen a couple of variations of this shade on bikes, this one stands out. Consequently, it deserves some extra brownie points for exclusivity. Granted, it’s an odd-looking bird at first, but give it time and the colour starts to grow on you. Other than this, we think the mix of green, black and silver gels well. While we would like to see an extensive colour pallet from Bajaj - like the original white, blue, grey and red - this is what we have to make do with for now. We’re sure some of you will have different opinions, so do let us know in the comments below. Which one would you pick?
