Like the cricket teams of various countries, the Indian two-wheeler market also has some teams with a particular brand name. Besides their players in different segments, they also keep a position for a captain in their fleet. Like a cricket team captain, these two-wheelers have helped their brand to stand strong in the market. They have always supported their manufacturers and performed well to achieve sales numbers as well as augment the brand value. So, let's have a look at such 5 captains in the Indian two-wheeler market.

5) Yamaha YZF-R15:

The most successful full-faired motorcycle in India, the YZF-R15, is playing the captain's role for Yamaha Motor India. Since its inception in 2008, the bike has been one of the most popular sports bikes in the country due to its YZF-R6 inspired styling and easily controllable power output. Another reason for its success is its highly competitive pricing, which still makes it one of the best value for money product in the budget performance motorcycle segment.

4) TVS Star City:

Since its inception, TVS Star City is performing well in the market and is the best selling motorcycle of the company. The bike came in the lime light due its healthy fuel economy and some of its first-in-class features like electric-start. Soon, the bike joined the group of the most popular motorcycles in the market. It became one of the most preferred options for youngsters and its new avatar- the Start City Plus still continues the trend.

3) Bajaj Pulsar:

Indians were quite happy with their 100cc bikes before the Bajaj Pulsar entered the market in the year 2000 and people realised the need of more. The masculine design and torquey engine of the bike worked well to attract the targetted customers and it became a big hit in the market. We can even say that the Pulsar was a trend setter for the sport bike segment in India and is still the most popular motorcycle in its class.

2) Honda Activa:

The best-selling automatic scooter in India, Activa, is the captain of team Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India. Launched in the year 2000, it was the first independent model of HMSI and it saved the dying scooter segment at that time. The scooter got popular because of its unisex appeal, easy to use design, a fantastic engine and that’s why it also claimed the number one position in the market multiple times.

1) Hero Splendor:

The most popular and best-selling two-wheeler in the Indian market, Splendor, is the captain of Hero for a couple of decades. The bike was launched under the brand name Hero Honda in 1994 as the successor of the CD 100 and since then it is considered as one of the most reliable and practical motorcycles in the country. The bike has seen many generations till now, even after the brand name got changed to Hero MotoCorp. The bike continued to gain popularity  with every passing year year.
