Modern day motorbikes are being built with the latest technologies and best of the materials. But you still have to keep the bike fit with regular maintenance as ignoring your motorbike will cause many problems with both the bike and yourself. Here are ten easy tips to keep your motorbike running for years to come.
1. Tyres
Easy as it is, keeping a check on your motorbike’s tyres will help you avoid many other problems. Always keep your tyres inflated to the recommended pressure. Underinflated or overinflated tyres lead to weaker handling and braking abilities. Keep an eye on the tyres’ condition and the thread depth too.
2. Oil and filter
Always check your oil levels as per the company recommendation. If the oil is lesser than the necessary levels, top it off. Changing your bike’s oil and filter regularly will keep the engine healthy and lively.
3. Battery
Battery is one the most important parts of the motorbike but still the most neglected one. If the battery becomes dry or drops into deep state of discharge, it will end the lift of the battery. Routine checks are necessary to avoid replacing the battery.
4. Brakes
Disc or drum, brakes are vital for controlling the bike and keeping them regularly checked and replaced if needed extends your bike’s lifecycle.
5. Chain
Keeping the bike’s chain in correct tension will ensure smooth gearshifts and prolonged life. Incorrect chain tension will lead to uneven wear of gearbox and sprocket and also reduce the life of chain. Also remember to lubricate the chain regularly.
6. Greasing
Regular dose of greasing will also benefit your bike and its parts to be smooth. Ensure you use the right type of grease in the right places to maximize the benefits. Footrest hinges, levers, stand hinges, locks etc are some common parts for greasing.
7. Spark plug
Though the spark plug doesn’t need regular changes, it is always better to keep an eye on for uneven start ups.
8. Noises
