Himalayan Sleet Expert Review

Royal Enfield introduces new tourer for adventure enthusiasts christened as the Himalayan Sleet with Explorer Kit. It is a limited edition Royal Enfield bike that is exclusively available online on the brand’s website. The new edition Himalayan Sleet is a combination of comfort, torque-heavy engine and long travel suspension. The company slates it to be an ideal companion for all roads and no roads at all. Now that’s impressive. The camo grey paint job with similar patterns gives the ride engrossing looks. It sports an upright riding position that is ideal to offer stress-free, smooth and comfortable rides. The steel cross brace has been included to the aluminium handlebars for enhanced strength and handlebar end weights for minimizing resonant vibrations. There are aluminium panniers at the rear for carrying along all your essentials. A large engine guard has also been added to provide extra safety.  These all are a part of the fitted Explorer Kit, which is on offer with the bike as standard.

The dynamics of the bike look solid while the suspension assembly is same as on the stock Royal Enfield Himalayan- 41mm telescopic front forks and mono-shock absorbers with linkage at the rear. The setup is good enough to offer firm riding experience keeping stability intact throughout. The front wheel measures 21 inches while the rear sits at 17 inches. Both the wheels embrace discs- the front wheel sports 300mm disc brake while the rear features 240mm disc.

The most versatile motorcycle has been levelled up. An ideal choice for adventure geeks, the Himalayan is now more durable, comfortable and stylish. The new Himalayan Sleet edition comes with several upgrades like aluminium handlebar with cross brace, handlebar end weights, large engine guard made from steel tube, pannier mounting rails and water-proof aluminium panniers. The patterns seen on the camo grey paint job are inspired by the tough, snow-rigged Himalayan mountain range which is absolutely eye-catchy. At the front, there is large crystal clear windshield embracing the walled and ergonomically designed handlebars that offer perfect riding position for long routes. The steel cross brace adds significant strength while the end weights on the handlebar reduce the resonant vibration and provide additional protection. The black powder coated 22mm steel tube guards not only add durability and corrosion resistance but enhances the overall appeal of the Himalayan Sleet. The aluminium panniers offer 26L space to carry your essentials for long adventurous journeys. Plus, they are lockable, durable and water-resistant.

Dimensionally, it measures 2190mm long, 840mm wide and 1360mm high. The ground clearance sits at 220mm and the wheelbase at 1465mm.

Powering the adventure tourer is the fuel-injected single-cylinder air-cooled 411cc engine that can churn out a max power of 24.8PS at 6,500rpm and a peak torque of 32Nm at 4,250rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed constant mesh gearbox which is responsible for powering the wheels. With the same mechanicals as the Himalayan, it is expected to yield a fuel economy of 29.48Kmpl and hit a top speed of 130Kmph.

Inheriting the stock suspension and frame from the standard model, the Sleet edition sits on the half-duplex split cradle frame with 41mm telescopic forks at the front and monoshock absorbers with linkage at the rear. The advanced chassis offers a connected feel and makes the bike responsive in all riding conditions. The suspension assembly is solid and capable of offering a stable and smooth experience to the rider regardless of the terrain.  On the braking front, both the ends get discs. The front sports 300mm dual-piston floating caliper and the rear gets 240mm single disc. The front 21-inch wheel wraps around 90/90 radial tyre and the rear 17-inch wheel wraps tyre of specification 120/90 around it.

On the safety front, the Himalayan Sleet has a halogen headlamp for clear vision, aluminium handlebar with cross brace for additional strength, full tread tyres for traction, support and stability and disc brakes at both ends for optimum stopping force.
