The Yamaha XSR 155 roadster has been spotted testing in India, and it looks like the much-awaited neo-retro bike will finally be launched soon. We expect Yamaha to launch the bike on November 11, 2025, as we have received a Block Your Date invite for the same date. But we can expect the bike to come with some changes compared to the international spec version. Here’s everything we’ve learned about the upcoming bike via the spy shots.

The Yamaha XSR 155 will get a retro-inspired design and styling, which makes it stand apart compared to the sportier Yamaha R15 V4 and the MT-15 streetfighter. The bike gets a round LED headlight, a single-pod instrument console and a peanut-shaped fuel tank. The ergonomics also look a bit different compared to the Yamaha MT-15 V2, with the wide handlebars and a flat bench seat. This should offer the rider a more relaxed and upright riding posture, which will make the bike more comfortable than the MT-15 and the R15 V4.

Both the Yamaha R15 and the MT-15 are well-known for their peppy performance. The MT-15 comes with a slightly larger rear sprocket for better acceleration, while other key figures: 18.4PS at 10,000rpm and 14.1Nm at 7,500rpm are the same as the R15. Expect a similar tune for the XSR155 as well.

The upcoming Yamaha XSR 155 also shares the same wheels as the MT-15. Interestingly, the alloy wheel design in the bike sold in Indonesia is different. Expect the bike to also come with Indian-branded tyres, possibly block pattern tyres from MRF.

The XSR 155 will also likely feature the same 282mm front and 220mm rear disc brake setup as the Yamaha MT-15, with dual-channel ABS. Features-wise, the bike will come with a negatively lit LCD console, with smartphone connectivity for service alerts, diagnostics and other information. Judging by the console’s size and layout, it is unlikely to get turn-by-turn navigation.

The Yamaha XSR 155 could be priced similarly to the Yamaha MT-15 or even cheaper, so probably at around Rs 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom). Do note that the expected price is as per the upcoming GST 2.0, according to which bikes having an engine capacity of 350cc and below will become cheaper. It will be enforced from September 22, so expect all small-capacity bikes to get more affordable. We have covered all the important Yamaha bikes along with their prices in our story here.
The bike will go up against the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, which is the cheapest Royal Enfield bike in India. Interestingly, the Yamaha XSR155 will also be the first 150-160cc retro bike in India with a liquid-cooled engine. Combining R15/ MT-15’s famed performance in a classic retro styling should make the XSR155 a likeable bike for both young and older riders alike.

- Most Underrated BikeWanted a low cc but stylish and retro motorcycle and here XSR became by my favourite. It can be easily maneuver in city traffics so that you don't have to be struggle to drive. Light weight as well. Gets you great mileage of around 45 plus. The riding posture is aggressive and yes, you can feel the ride and that's what actually matters. The seat is quite hard but instead of replacing it you can have a s seat cover of 400 rupees which would make it but softer. If you want entry level retro bike or kind of new into riding culture have it, feel it and then eventually according to your needs upgrade. It is stylish, you stop at red signal, people stop and ask about the bike. Most underrated bike you can say.Read More
- XSR 155 in India reviewEngine reliability is very good, reviews from the international audience suggests, the neo retro design looks damn good on roads. I've got so many compliments over the looks. Performance is insane too. The ride can be difficult to get used to at first but it gets better with time. The engine is super powerful and vibrations are very less. You can feel the power as you drive. The bike is pretty light and agile. And as you rev beyond 7k RPM, the VVA kicks in and the experience just get drastically better. I highly recommend this bike. Comfort might be one of the problems at the start but it gets better over time. Also, the customisation options are insane. You can just tune it to how you want it. Possibilities are endless.Read More5 1
