Yamaha Motors further stretched its well-established scooter lineup by releasing its premium 113cc offering christened as Yamaha Fascino. Built on a complete retro theme, the scooter is powered by an 113cc, four-stroke carbureted mill that churns out a peak power of 7bhp at 7,500rpm with a maximum torque of 8.1Nm at 5,000rpm. The single-cylinder engine is mated to a V-belt automatic transmission system and uses a dry centrifugal clutch to drive the rear wheels. Like its mates, the all-new scooter is blessed with Yamaha’s revolutionary “Blue Core” technology that ensures a better combustion and fuel efficiency. Built on an underbone frame, Yamaha Fascino receives 90/100-10 tyres and reliable drum brakes at both ends. With this hardware configuration, the company claims a decent mileage of 66kmpl. Currently, Yamaha India sells its three 110cc scooters in the Indian market, which are Yamaha Alpha, Ray and Ray Z.

On the occasion, Mr. Masaki Asano, Managing Director, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt. Ltd. conveyed, “This is indeed a very special occasion for us as we launch our new style icon Fascino designed especially for the Indian Youth. The Indian Youth today represents more than 50% population of India. Theses are people who are fashionable, adventurous and like stepping out of conventional boundaries and set new standards. The Fascino has been developed eccentrically based on the concept of dynamic elegance, classy tailoring, and balance of function and design. We as a youthful brand wanted to present them with a product that could fascinate them and Fascino, we believe, will certainly, be able to do the job well.”

The all-new 113cc scooter was earlier codenamed as 04X and it will be manufactured at the company’s new scooter production facility in Chennai. The manufacturer had been testing it thoroughly and its test mules were spotted a few months back on Indian roads.

At a glittering event held in Mumbai, Mr. Roy Kurian, VP Sales and Marketing, Yamaha Motor India Sales Pvt Ltd further added, “India has the world’s largest two-wheeler market with an annual demand of approximately 16 million units (2014). Out of the total demand, the scooter segment constitutes 27% of the market and is growing further year by year. Since 2012, Yamaha Motors has been introducing its range of scooters - including Ray, Ray Z and Alpha - and has been increasing its customer base in the Indian market. The new Fascino is further intended to expand sales in the scooter category, which is expected to grow further, especially among the youth who have a keen interest in current fashion and trends.”

Yamaha Fascino is priced at Rs. 52,500 (ex-showroom, Delhi) and will come in five trendy colours including an attractive matte chromatic colour scheme. The retro 113cc scooter will lock its horns against TVS Scooty Zest and Honda Activa.
