Updated Yamaha Grand Filano Retro Scooter Launched In Indonesia
The retro-modern scooter makes a return to the Indonesian market, that too with several updates
Yamaha has launched the updated Grand Filano Hybrid retro scooter for the Indonesian market. It marks the iconic scooter’s return after it was launched in Indonesia back in 2015, that too in limited units. The 2023 Indonesian-spec Grand Filano comes with a mild-hybrid tech with electric assist, just like the India-spec Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi.
Additionally, it also comes loaded with features including an LCD instrument cluster with a TFT inset and smartphone connectivity. The TFT screen shows, along with the usual Odometer, fuel consumption, and Power Assist Indicator (for when the electric assist is activated), and welcome and goodbye message as well. Other notable features include an apron-mounted fuel filler cap (similar to the TVS Jupiter 125), generous 27-litre underseat storage with LED light, silent starter, smart key fob, apron-mounted USB port and cubbyhole, hazard lamps, all-LED lighting, and flat pillion foot pads. Sadly, just like the Indian scoot, it doesn’t offer navigation.
Both the Fascino and the Grand Filano sport nearly identical specs, as the Filano makes just 0.1Nm more, and both weigh the same 100kg. That said, while both the front and rear tyres on the Grand Filano are 12-inchers, the Fascino gets a 10-inch rear unit.
The Yamaha Grand Filano Hybrid-Connected variants – the Lux and the Neo, differentiated mostly by visual elements like a tan seat or chrome garnish on the apron – retail at IDR 27,500,000 (Lux) and IDR 27,000,000 (Neo), which is the Indian equivalent of Rs 1.48 lakh and 1.46 lakh, respectively. This is significantly more than the desi Fascino, which retails for between Rs 77,100 and Rs 88,730 (both, ex-showroom Delhi). All in all, while the India-spec Fascino gets most of the features as the Indonesian Filano, we hope Yamaha updates the desi scooter with external fuel filler, 12-inch rear wheel, and perhaps, turn-by-turn navigation soon.
Meanwhile, if you're looking for a petrol scooter with similar features, we’d recommend the TVS Jupiter 125. Alternatively, if your commute is restricted to the city and you are looking for something eco-friendly, you could go for the Ola S1 Air or stretch your budget a bit and go for the TVS iQube S.

- Good driving with pillion .Good driving with pillion. Nice pickup power, must maintain periodically without fail or it will issue its mileage and performance. Good option for daily based and long rides without much shivering of handels in the road. - FEEDBACK ON FASCINO 1252025 January I have purchased this fascino 125 vehicle, very comfortable journey and nice experience while riding in this scooter but cost is little more expensive in my opinion. It would better if it can affordable at low budget. This is eco friendly vehicle. I have ride this vehicle almost 5,000 km very nice experience. I felt very easy to control, less weight easy to turn suddenly, good budget friendly vehicle, very smooth while riding no shaking or vibration. Yes, I will definitely recommend to my family, Relatives and friends. - Review after 4 years of ridingFor Looks and spacious, because of the hybrid system , bluetooth connectivity, other scooter have classy but i selected for over all features, other scooters does not offers many features at that time. Engine get noisy within 300 km if we have habbit of sudden throttling and habit of rash driving so bike must be handled slow and gradual increase in throttle then we wont get any noise,it will settle after several km of slow and steady throttling, speedometer wire get become faulty 6 months once , scooter will accelerate itself after 6 month because of some fault in accelerator wire at fist it will 10 km/h then if we did not fix it with mechanic it will gradually increase and go upto 40 km/h when we start the bike its act a cruise control but we need do unwanted breaking and loss in mileage, breaks must be periodically tightened other it will become loose, I do not have experience with other bike hence this is my first bike I do not have any experience with other scooters so I do not have knowledge and experience to comment about this , bike have good pickup once we reached a speed of 40 to 60 km per hour then we can over take anything without any lag , but at first 40 km we will feel rubber band effect .Read More1 6
- it can be a choice but not so good choice 😁the speed meter wire is not up to the mark.. every pot hole feels like you got into it and the front wheel touches the protector so it makes noise. the real world mileage for an average driver would come down to 50kmpl.
