TVS Apache RTR 200 4V: Old vs New

TVS recently launched the updated 2025 Apache RTR 200 4V in India at a price of Rs 1.54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Along with this new version, TVS also sells the model with the telescopic fork, which costs Rs 5,370 less. Let’s have a closer look at what the new TVS Apache RTR 200 4V has to offer. 

Design 

For 2025, TVS has kept the design unchanged, and the motorcycle retains its aggressive styling and sharp body panels. It now gets 3 new paint schemes: Glossy Black, Matte Black, and Granite Grey. Along with these new colours, the motorcycle also gets new red coloured graphics which makes the bike look sporty without being too in-your-face. What makes the 2025 bike unique is that TVS has given it a red coloured alloy wheel at the front and a black coloured alloy wheel at the rear. On the other hand, the 2024 model gets blacked-out alloys at both ends.

Engine

The Apache RTR 200 4V now gets an OBD-2B compliant engine which makes the same power and torque figures as before. The 197.75cc single-cylinder, air & oil-cooled engine makes 20.82PS at 9,000rpm and 17.25Nm at 7,250rpm. It gets a 5-speed gearbox along with a slipper-clutch setup. This engine has been praised for its peppy performance and engaging riding experience.

Underpinnings 

The 2025 RTR 200 4V uses the same split-cradle frame as before, but TVS has given it a golden coloured inverted fork which is not adjustable. On the other hand, the older bike uses a Showa regular telescopic fork but with preload adjustability. At the rear it uses the same Showa monoshock as before which gets 7-step preload adjustability. It also gets a single piece handlebar rather than the clip-on setup which the telescopic fork version gets. 

A single piece handlebar looks rather basic in terms of the design, but is a lot cheaper to replace when compared to a clip-on (which cost around Rs 2,500 for one side). The updated version uses the same braking setup with a 270mm front and a 240mm rear petal discs along with dual channel ABS. It runs on 17-inch alloy wheels with a 90-section front and a 130-section rear tyre.

Features 

The updated Apache RTR 200 4V also gets the same instrument cluster as before with the brand's SmartXconnect feature. It supports smartphone connectivity with turn-by-turn navigation and SMS/call alerts along with race telemetry, lean angles and crash alert. 

Along with this, the motorcycle gets an LED headlight, LED tail lights and halogen indicators. One of the most interesting features which the RTR 200 4V offers are the 3 ride modes: Rain, Urban and Sport. In Rain and Urban mode the motorcycle makes slightly less power and torque at 17.32PS and 16.51Nm. The riding modes not only adjust the power but also tune the ABS intervention levels accordingly. This is very handy for riders who are inexperienced or when riding on slippery, wet roads.

Price And Verdict 

The updated RTR 200 4V costs Rs 5,370 more than the telescopic fork version, which is quite a lot considering that the motorcycle only offers a new fork, revised colour schemes and a single-piece handlebar when compared to the clip-on setup. 

The RTR 200 4V has always been a very engaging and fun-to-ride motorcycle in its segment. While the one with the telescopic fork is a little more versatile because of its adjustability, the 2025 model trades that for a dose of premiumness. If you’re someone who wants to have a motorcycle whose ride quality can be tuned as per your liking, you’re better off with the telescopic fork variant. Those who don’t mind losing the adjustability, and are willing to pay the premium for the chunky, premium look of the gold finished inverted fork and the funky colour scheme can go for the 2025 version.
