Turn Your Yamaha XSR 900 Into A 70s Retro Cafe Racer With This Custom Kit
It turns the iconic retro bike into a full fledged cafe racer

Yamaha Japan’s accessory division, Y’s Gear, has developed two stunning custom cafe racer kits for the Yamaha XSR 900 retro bike in Japan. It pays homage to the iconic 1975 YZR 500 Race bike. Here’s what the kits are and what they feature:
Blood Line Style

For a cafe racer design, this kit comes equipped with a sporty bikini fairing along with a headlight grille, rear seat & side covers, radiator cover and a tail tidy for design upgrades. In terms of performance upgrades, the kit offers a Akrapovic full system exhaust muffler, adjustable brake and clutch levers and a frame damper, which is claimed to mitigate chassis vibrations. With the yellow, red and white shades in the mix, the custom kit gives the bike a proper retro YZR 500 appeal, and costs JPY 6,30,190, equivalent to around Rs 3.9 lakh. That’s a lot of money for a custom kit, and it’s also more expensive than all the Yamaha bikes in India. P.S. you can buy two Yamaha R15 V4’s at that price.

Touring Style

This custom touring kit gives the modded XSR900 the capability of being a tourer with saddle stays with soft panniers. In addition to the fairing and the seat cover, it also features a crash guard, radiator cover and heated grips. This kit also features a lowering link which when attached to the rear monoshock should reduce the height of the bike, making it more accessible to all kinds of riders. It is more affordable than the Blood Line Style and is priced at Japanese Yen 3,44,300, equivalent to around Rs 2.1 lakh.
Both kits are claimed to be limited and will go on sale starting June 2023 in Japan. Sadly, the Yamaha XSR 900 is not available in India and will not be launched anytime soon. In related news, a custom cafe racer kit for the Yamaha XSR125 was showcased at the 2023 Osaka Motorcycle Show In Japan. Yamaha is also planning on bringing its big bikes to India. Head here for more details on that.

- Most Underrated BikeWanted a low cc but stylish and retro motorcycle and here XSR became by my favourite. It can be easily maneuver in city traffics so that you don't have to be struggle to drive. Light weight as well. Gets you great mileage of around 45 plus. The riding posture is aggressive and yes, you can feel the ride and that's what actually matters. The seat is quite hard but instead of replacing it you can have a s seat cover of 400 rupees which would make it but softer. If you want entry level retro bike or kind of new into riding culture have it, feel it and then eventually according to your needs upgrade. It is stylish, you stop at red signal, people stop and ask about the bike. Most underrated bike you can say.Read More
- XSR 155 in India reviewEngine reliability is very good, reviews from the international audience suggests, the neo retro design looks damn good on roads. I've got so many compliments over the looks. Performance is insane too. The ride can be difficult to get used to at first but it gets better with time. The engine is super powerful and vibrations are very less. You can feel the power as you drive. The bike is pretty light and agile. And as you rev beyond 7k RPM, the VVA kicks in and the experience just get drastically better. I highly recommend this bike. Comfort might be one of the problems at the start but it gets better over time. Also, the customisation options are insane. You can just tune it to how you want it. Possibilities are endless.Read More5 1
