The most affordable adventure bike from Triumph is almost here

Triumph Tiger 850 Sport is a road-biased adventure tourer. Gets a smaller engine compared to the Triumph Tiger 900 range. Likely to be priced around Rs 11.50 lakh.

Triumph India is all set to launch its most affordable adventure bike in the country, the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport. Unveiled globally in November 2020, the Tiger 850 Sport is essentially a road-biased adventure tourer, armed with a smaller engine than the Tiger 900 range. It is likely to be priced around Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom), serving as the stepping stone into Triumph’s ADV range.

The 888cc inline-triple engine in the Tiger 850 Sport makes 85PS and 82Nm, as opposed to 95PS and 87Nm in the Tiger 900. This should make the bike less intimidating than the Tiger 900s. Triumph claims the Tiger 850 Sport will return a mileage of 19.2kmpl, pretty reasonable for a bike of its class.

The bike gets two riding modes: Road and Rain. It features a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster, all-LED lighting system, dual-channel ABS, a generous 20-litre fuel tank, upright ergonomics, and a tail windshield for optimum mile-munching capabilities.

Triumph hasn’t skimped on the underpinnings. So the 850 Sport features a 45mm Marzocchi inverted front fork, preload-adjustable Marzocchi rear shock absorber, top-spec Brembo Stylema calipers holding on to the twin 320mm discs up front, and a 255mm rear disc with Brembo caliper. The motorcycle rides on a 19-inch front and a 17-inch rear wrapped with Michelin Anakee Adventure tyres, good enough for mild off-roading.

The Triumph Tiger 850 Sport will primarily take on the BMW F 900 XR and the Ducati Multistrada 950, both road-biased ADVs.
