Triumph Tiger 850 Sport Latest Updates

Triumph has launched the Tiger 850 Sport in India at Rs 11. 95 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). You can check out our full launch coverage here.

      Triumph Tiger 850 Sport Price:

Triumph has launched the Tiger 850 Sport at Rs 11,95,000 (ex-showroom Delhi). While still being a pricey option, the 850 actually undercuts the Tiger 900 GT by a massive Rs 1,75,000. It is available in two colours: Graphite Diablo Red and Graphite Caspian Blue.

      Triumph Tiger 850 Sport Features:

While the Tiger 850 Sport is an entry-level model, the features on offer are impressive. It gets full-LED lighting with DRLs and a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster that shows all relevant information. As for rider modes, the 850 Sport has two: Rain and Road, along with a switchable traction control. A hand-adjustable windscreen with 50mm variation and adjustable levers complete the package. However, it misses out on an IMU, switchcube, heated grips, and cornering ABS which are all present on the Tiger 900.

      Triumph Tiger 850 Sport Engine:

The Tiger 850 Sport is powered by the same 888cc, inline-triple motor seen on the Tiger 900. However, it has been tuned to generate 85PS at 8500rpm and 82Nm at 6500rpm, as opposed to the Tiger 900 GT’s 95PS and 87Nm. The Euro 5 BS6-compliant engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission with assist and slipper clutch. Triumph claims a mileage of 19kmpl. So that, coupled with the generous 20-litre fuel tank capacity, should take the range up to 380 km (approx).

Triumph Tiger 850 Sport Suspension & Brakes:

The Tiger 850 comes with a 45mm inverted front fork offering 180mm travel and a rear preload-adjustable monoshock with 170mm travel -- both from Marzocchi. Up front, the dual 320mm discs are held by Brembo 4-piston Stylema monobloc callipers, whereas the rear 255mm disc is clamped by a Brembo single-piston calliper. Since the Triumph Tiger 850 Sport is more of a road-biased tourer, the 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels come neatly wrapped in Michelin Anakee Adventure dual-purpose tyres.

      Triumph Tiger 850 Sport Rivals:

The Triumph Tiger 850 Sport locks horns with entry-level 650cc ADVs like the Kawasaki Versys 650 and the Suzuki V-Storm 650XT. It also goes up against the bigger BMW F 750 and F 850 GS. Considering the package, the Tiger 850 Sport makes a strong case for itself in the market.
