This will be Suzuki’s first made-in-India adventure bike, based on the existing 250cc platform

  • The teaser reveals a glimpse of the twin port exhaust and the engine casing, both of which look similar to the existing Gixxer 250 range.
  • Expect it to be priced at around Rs 2 lakh.
  • Launch likely in the coming weeks.

Suzuki India has released a new teaser of an adventure bike, and going by the video clip, it is likely to be the Suzuki V-Strom 250. The video shows us a glimpse of the twin-port exhaust, which is reminiscent of that of the one in the Suzuki Gixxer 250 / Suzuki Gixxer SF 250

The bronze-finished engine casing is also visible, and it appears to be the same single-cylinder oil-cooled unit found in the quarter litre Gixxer twins. In the twins, it produces 26.5PS and 22.2Nm, and expect the state of tune to be the same in the ADV as well. That said, we’d love it if Suzuki tweaks the gear ratios to suit the character of the motorcycle.

The Suzuki V-Strom 250 is likely to use a telescopic front fork and a rear monoshock, like the Gixxer 250 twins. That said, we hope Suzuki tweaks the suspension for better travel. It will also get disc brakes at both ends, with dual-channel ABS as standard.

The bodywork design could be based on the new Suzuki V-Strom 1050, which should make the bike look sleek yet menacing. Expect it to have an all-LED lighting, fully digital instrument cluster possibly with smartphone connectivity and turn-by-turn navigation.

Expect Suzuki to price the bike at around Rs 2 lakh (ex-showroom), considering the Gixxer SF 250 retails at Rs 1,90,400 (ex-showroom Delhi). It will compete with the KTM 250 Adventure, Royal Enfield Scram 411. Expect Suzuki to launch the bike within this month. The Japanese bikemaker had earlier planned to bring out the Intruder 250 first, but considering the spike in growth of the small-capacity ADV segment, bringing in the V-Strom 250 now seems to make good business sense.
