Japanese two-wheeler giant, Suzuki is all set to begin the local assembly of its legendary motorcycle, the Hayabusa. If this happens, the price of the motorcycle is likely to fall by approximately Rs. 2 lac. Earlier, Suzuki had started local assembly of the Inazuma, but due to its high price, the bike didn’t do well in the Indian market. The new price of the motorcycle has come out and now has been priced at Rs. 13.57 lac (ex-showroom, Delhi) and the fall in price will make Kawasaki’s ZX-14R buyers think twice. The price of the Kawasaki ZX-14R is Rs. 17.9 lac (ex-showroom, Delhi).

Kenji Hirozawa, Vice President Sales & Marketing, SMIPL, said, “India is one of the largest manufacturer of motorcycles in the world. This is a clear indication of the high demands in this ever growing market. Along with growth, comes maturity. Coupled with growth in lifestyle and infrastructure, there is an increasing demand for Big Bikes by the Indian Enthusiast. SMIPL shall cater to this by starting assembly of our most widely selling big bike, the Suzuki Hayabusa. We firmly believe in the Make in India program and this another step to show our support even in the big bike market.”

The Hayabusa made its debut in 1999, this power hungry bike took over the playground and became the most talked about and envied bike in the history of two-wheelers. The Hayabusa was introduced to take down the Honda blackbird, which was the fastest machine at that time. Its 1340cc, 4-stroke, 4-cylinder, liquid-cooled, DOHC engine pumps out 197bhp of power and the peak torque of 155Nm. This powerful mill features SDTV (Suzuki Dual Throttle Valve) fuel injection system with dual 12-hole, fine spray injectors per cylinder and a ram air intake with large volume air box. This beast of an engine is mated to a 6-speed transmission.

Built around a light yet extremely rigid twin-spar aluminium frame, this powerful superbike comes with a set of fully adjustable inverted forks up front and a link type, coil spring and oil dampened suspension system at the rear.
