It looks similar to the bigger Hypermotard and gets some premium hardware

Something interesting is cooking in the Ducati headquarters, and it comes in the form of a single-cylinder engine. That’s right, a single-cylinder Hypermotard has been spied testing abroad, and if that is not exciting, we don’t know what is.

Ducati seems to be going back to its roots making a single-cylinder once again. And of course, Ducati being Ducati, these are likely to be big engines with true performance. The one spied here on the Hypermotard is likely to be a 659cc motor, as it was homologated in the U.S. in late 2022. The documents suggest that it will get a four-valve configuration, and in the spy shot we can see that it is a liquid-cooled mill, which should make around 75-80PS. From the spy shots, it is also visible that the bike gets a quickshifter.

Now belonging to the Hypermotard family, the spied bike gets a lovely Supermoto design language, very much similar to its elder sibling – Hypermotard 950. It gets a long beak up front, a sharp fuel tank with shrouds extending frontwards, a single piece seat along with lean side and rear body panels. And yes, the lighting is all LED.

Being a Ducati, it obviously gets a trellis frame with engine as the stressed member paired with an aluminium subframe. And oh, being a supermoto means a long travel front fork, which it is, along with being a USD unit which could be adjustable. The rear gets a linked gas-charged monoshock. Apart from that, the disc brakes on both ends feature Brembo callipers. Similar to the bigger Hypermotard, the spied bike too features an upright riding posture.

The most important question is, will it come to India? Well, it is unlikely anytime soon and will only be restricted to the foreign markets where it will take on the KTM 690 SMC R. Considering that this is the first ever spy shot of the bike, it is likely a year and a half away from launch.
