It was earlier expected to be launched by mid-September

It will be the first motorcycle based on the J-platform to be launched in India. Likely to be available in three variants. Pictures suggest it will be powered by a BS6-compliant 350cc fuel-injected single-cylinder engine. Expected to be priced around Rs 1.60 lakh.

We had earlier reported Royal Enfield plans of launching the much-awaited Meteor 350 by mid-September. However, we’ve now learnt that the launch has been pushed to next month. The Meteor 350 will be the first bike from Royal Enfield’s stable to be based on the new J platform. And if we were to go by the pricing that had leaked online, we could expect the Meteor 350 to set you back by around Rs 1.60 lakh (ex-showroom). It will be available in three variants: Fireball, Stellar and Supernova. Read more about it here.

In terms of specs, leaked brochure images suggest the Meteor will be powered by a new BS6-compliant 350cc fuel-injected long-stroke air-cooled single-cylinder engine that makes 20.48PS and 27Nm. It's also likely to feature a Single Overhead Camshaft like the Royal Enfield Himalayan. The engine specs have been explained in detail here

The engine isn’t the only mechanical change on the Meteor 350. It also has bigger brakes and fatter tyres compared to the Thunderbird 350X. What enthusiasts might miss is the Thunderbird’s massive 20-litre fuel tank which is replaced by a smaller 15-litre unit. More details here.

Of course, the bike would seem pretty incomplete without a feature list and the Meteor seems to have a lengthy one. The semi-digital instrument console, for instance, gets smartphone connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation as well as day and night mode. You also have a USB charging port, LED tail light, and a circular LED DRL that runs around the headlight.

It’s safe to say that Royal Enfield is betting big on the Meteor 350 and we really hope it lives up to the hype.
