Royal Enfield made headlines following the announcement of its first electric two-wheeler. Now, more details have surfaced about the company’s EV plans, cementing that the retro bikemaker is eager to take the leap into neoteric technology.

Royal Enfield’s parent company, Eicher Motors, is also in the process of securing a big investment under the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) Scheme. With this, the company could get a total investment of Rs 2,000 crore over a period of five years.

As per Govindarajan’s statement, the company is not rushing the project, but is taking time to analyse buyer requirements in this segment. He also stressed that the brand’s objective is to come out with differentiated offerings in the EV space.
The upcoming Royal Enfield electric motorcycle will be based on an all-new platform, and going by the available battery and motor technology, we reckon it would be an urban EV. Though we still have a few years before the debut of the electric Enfield, which is likely to take place by 2025, it surely will be exciting to see what the brand has to offer.
