However, things are not all rosy as it seems when it comes to the features customers were initially promised

After several delays, Ola Electric has finally commenced deliveries of its first electric scooter, the Ola S1, across India. Unlike the traditional route of selling and delivering products through dealerships, the company has chosen the direct-to-customer approach, and the e-scooters will be delivered directly to customers’ homes

Ola had stated earlier that several features, including the app connectivity, cruise control, Hill Hold, Voice Assistant will be offered during the time of delivery via Over The Air (OTA) updates. However, according to a report online, these features were not yet activated at the time of the delivery event of the first 100 e-scooters in Bengaluru, and will reportedly be available only after about a month via OTA updates.

So if you’ve purchased the Ola S1 and are getting your scooter delivered today, it may not have all the features initially promised out of the box. The Ola S1 Pro comes with Voice Assistant, Hill Hold, and Cruise Control over and above all the features that are present in the base Ola S1. Check out more differences between the S1 and the S1 Pro.

The Ola S1 electric scooter starts from Rs 99,999 (ex-showroom Bengaluru, including FAME II subsidy). Here’s the state-wise price list. If you’re planning to buy one, you can now pre-book for Rs 499 but the purchase window opens only in late January

We hope Ola Electric enables all the advertised features soon, and more importantly hope it speeds up the process of setting up its charging infrastructure. The company plans to set up 5,000 charging stations across 100 cities in India in the first year but only one charging station, in Bengaluru, has been spotted so far. We took the Ola S1 Pro for a spin, and here’s what we liked and disliked about it. And if you’re confused between buying the Ola S1 Pro and the Ather 450X, you must check this out.
