After unveiling the bike a couple of weeks ago, Royal Enfield has finally launched the limited edition Classic 500 Despatch motorcycle in India. It is a cosmetic update on the existing Classic 500 model and has been priced at Rs. 2.05 lac (ex-showroom, Mumbai).
The RE Classic 500 Despatch is a limited edition motorcycle, dedicated to the era of Despatch riders. It comes with a unique military camouflage colour scheme, which is available in two options- The Desert Storm Despatch and The Squadron Blue. Other exclusive cosmetic updates of the motorcycle include genuine Italian leather seat and embossed aluminium hallmark, detailing the particulars of its manufacturer. Like an original Despatch rider motorcycle, engine, Indicators, pilot lamp mountings and exhaust pipe of the bike gets a Matte-Black finish.
Apart from these visual changes, the Despatch edition is the same Royal Enfield Classic 500 with its thumping long-stroke engine. The 499cc, 4-stroke, air-cooled, single-cylinder torque mill delivers 41.3Nm at just 4,000rpm and makes 27.2bhp of maximum power at 5,250rpm.
Along with the limited edition motorcycle, RE has also introduced Despatch range of accessories and riding apparel, including duffle bags, saddle bags, boots, wallets, t-shirts, pants, riding jacket and a lot more.

- RE classic 500 (dessert storm) no mods 2014It's a great bike. There are no modifications done. With proper servicing and normal maintenance this will keep going. The power and pickup is nice. Easily overtakes other vehicles at 80kmph also. Is stable on highways. Adding a backrest could help pillion rider in long rides. I usually drove without pillion for long rides.
