Kawasaki W800 BS6 Launched, Now Rs 1 Lakh Cheaper Than Before

The updated bike manages to retain its engine output figures

The updated bike manages to retain its engine output figures

If you’re in the market for a mid-capacity retro parallel-twin bike, the quintessential choice is, of course, the Triumph Bonneville. If the Rs 7.45 lakh Street Twin and Rs 8.87 lakh T100 are out of reach, the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 represents a great VFM alternative. But there is a Kawasaki offering in this segment that often gets overlooked: the W800.

Model Name Old Price (BS4) New Price (BS6) Price Cut
Kawasaki W800 Street Rs 7,99,000 Rs 6,99,000 Rs 1,00,000

It might start grabbing a great deal more attention now, though, because the BS6 version of the bike has been launched and it’s a whole Rs 1 lakh more affordable than before. Yes, you read that right: despite meeting the more stringent emission norms, the W800 BS6 is priced at just Rs 6.99 lakh. To further sweeten the deal, let us tell you that the bike hasn’t lost its edge -- it still retains its 52PS and 62.9Nm output figures from the 773cc air-cooled vertical-twin (a parallel-twin with a 360-degree crankshaft, meaning that both pistons rise and fall together). Aside from a cleaner burning motor, there are no other changes to the bike.

What strengthens the little Kawi’s position in the market even further is that while its price has taken a dive in BS6 form, the Triumph’s are expected to go in the opposite direction. Though the Brit brand’s modern classic range is already BS6-compliant, it hasn’t yet received the accompanying price hikes. These are due to arrive in July, meaning the Street Twin and T100 will be even more expensive in a couple months. The old W’s looking pretty attractive now, huh?

Wonderful Bike

The bike is inspired by the Jawa and the silencer engine. The refinement is good but the handling quality should be improved by the Kawasaki motors to run the bike in this segment. I own a Vulcan's that's the engine has been taken from the Z650 that's better than Harleys 750 ones. Kawasaki should have changed the style of the indicators that may high light the retro style motorbikes.
