Here are four other bikes you could buy for around the same price as the Jawa  Forty Two

Jawa hopped onto the BS6 bandwagon early March by launching the Jawa and Jawa Forty Two in India. The dual-channel ABS variant of the Jawa Forty costs Rs 1,69,242, an additional Rs 5,000 over its BS4 counterpart. A fair price hike in our opinion. However, some of you may find it illogical to spend that kind of money on a base Jawa. So to help you with some buying options we’ve compiled a list of bikes that you can get for around the same price as the Forty Two.

Bajaj Dominar 250 -  Rs 1,60,000

Bajaj Dominar 250

The Bajaj Dominar 250 may be a cruiser just like the Forty Two, but with more sophisticated mechanical components and modern looks. It looks sharp, mean and fast even when it’s standing still. It’s just as powerful and feature-packed as the Jawa Forty Two, all while saving you around Rs 9,000, which could be better spent on some riding gear or touring accessories.

Suzuki Gixxer 250 BS6 - Approx. Rs 1,63,000

Suzuki Gixxer 250 BS6

While we don’t have the official prices for the BS6 Suzuki Gixxer 250, we believe it will be priced around Rs 1.63 lakh once launched. That helps it undercut the Jawa Forty Two by around 6,000 while offering more kit. The Gixxer 250 gets an LED headlight, tail light and a full-digital instrument console that’s legible and easy to read unlike the analogue console on the Jawas. The chassis exudes confidence with the help of some grippy, chunky radial tyres and urges you to push the bike hard in corners. Oh, and you can comfortably seat two riders unlike the cramped seat on the Jawas.

Royal Enfield Classic 350 BS6 - Rs 1,67,780

RE Classic 350 Bs6

But if you still have a weakness for classic styling, you could opt for the king of the retro segment, the BS6 Royal Enfield Classic 350. Yes, it’s underpowered compared to the Forty Two thanks to its age-old UCE engine. But what sells for RE is the thump and the way the bike cruises at around 60kmph while making you feel like you’re sitting on a barcalounger. It’s a sense of freedom that no other bike offers. No wonder the motorcycle has such a massive cult following.

KTM 250 Duke BS6 - Rs 1,72,000

KTM 200 Duke BS6

But if you like fast and furious, it doesn’t get any better than the revamped KTM 200 Duke. It looks more aggressive than before, gets a new subframe, and features revised ergonomics. And even though it packs a smaller 199.5cc engine, it feels livelier than the Jawa Forty Two. Not to mention, it’s way superior in terms of mechanicals, which help it corner with razor-sharp precision. Hands down one of the best bikes you can buy if you’re willing to stretch your budget by around Rs 3,000.
