Here’s how the updated Hero Xtreme 160R stack up against the old Xtreme

2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 2V

Hero recently launched the updated Xtreme 160R in India, and the bike has undergone a couple of changes to its design and features. In this article, we will be going over the changes and giving a detailed breakdown of what the 2024 Xtreme 160R has to offer.

Price & Variants

The price of the Xtreme 160R 2V has changed and now the bike is offered at Rs 1,11,111 (ex-showroom). Earlier, the starting price of the Xtreme 160R 2V was Rs 1,21,636 (ex-showroom Delhi), so with the 2024 update, the Xtreme 160R 2V is Rs 10,525 cheaper.

The Hero Xtreme 160R is now only offered in one variant – the single disc variant with single-channel ABS – and in only one colour scheme: Stealth Black. The bike being offered in a single variant does narrow down the choices that have to be considered when buying. Which ends up simplifying the buying process. That said, it is important to note that with this update, the bike doesn’t get a dual-disc variant with dual-channel ABS.

Drag Race Timer

The 2024 Hero Xtreme 160R 2V gets a drag race timer with this update. The drag race timer has 2 modes: D1 and D2. The D1 mode measures the bike’s 0-60kmph acceleration timing and the D2 mode measures the bike’s quarter-mile (402m) timing. Overall, this timer is a quirky addition which adds a bit to the sporty nature of the Xtreme.

Other than this addition, the instrument console remains the same. It is a fully-digital, negatively-lit unit which displays information such as speed, fuel level, tachometer readings, along with trip meter and odometer readouts.

New Seat

To enhance the overall comfort that the Xtreme 160R offers, Hero has added in an all new single-piece seat.

The seat has a flatter profile and a lowered pillion section, which will make it a lot more comfortable and accessible to riders of all sizes.

New Tail light

When looking at the bike’s design, most of it has remained unchanged except for the addition of a new tail light.

The tail light features a new design with a H-shape, similar to the one that was recently added to the Hero Xtreme 160R 4V and the one present in the higher capacity Hero Mavrick 440. Overall, it makes the tail section a lot more compact and also looks quite good.

The 2024 update has brought some interesting changes to the bike that have enhanced the features, comfort and overall look. Other than this, the bike remains unchanged in terms of performance. It is still powered by the same 163cc, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine which outputs 15.2PS and 14Nm.

The Xtreme 160R 2V’s closest rival is the TVS Apache RTR 160 2V, which is priced from  Rs 1,20,420 (ex-showroom Delhi). With the new price of Rs 1,11,111 (ex-showroom), the Hero Xtreme 160R 2V is now Rs 9,309 cheaper than the Apache RTR 160 2V.
