Hero Xtreme 125R Launched: TVS Raider 125, Bajaj Pulsar NS125 Rival Offers 66kmpl Mileage
It’s the first bike in the air-cooled 125cc bike segment to get a single-channel ABS
Hero MotoCorp has launched its first sporty 125cc bike, the Xtreme 125R. The new Hero bike is offered in 2 variants, IBS (Integrated braking system, Hero’s term for combined braking system - CBS) and ABS priced at Rs 95,000 and Rs 99,500 respectively. To give you a perspective, the base single-seat variant of the TVS Raider 125 (its primary rival) costs Rs 95,219 and the top-of-the-line SX variant is priced at Rs 1,02,770. The Xtreme 125R comes with an aggressive design. It features tank extensions that look sharp and this is combined with the angular side panels and a high-set tail section which gives the bike a very sporty appearance. The headlight is a LED projector unit, with a sharp design.
The new bike comes with a new 125cc air-cooled single cylinder SPRINT (Smooth Power Response and Instant Torque) counterbalanced engine to ensure optimum refinement. It produces 11.55PS at 8250rpm. In comparison, the TVS Raider makes 11.38PS and 11.2Nm. The Xtreme 125R’s engine also gets some interesting features like Hero’s i3S idle stop start system that enhances mileage along with a silent cam chain. The bike can do a claimed 0-60kmph acceleration in 5.9 seconds and returns a claimed mileage of 66kmpl.
In terms of underpinnings, the bike is built on a diamond frame and is suspended on a 37mm telescopic fork at front, the largest in the air-cooled 125cc bike segment and a 7-step adjustable rear monoshock developed with Showa specifically for the Xtreme 125R. It also comes with a 120/80 section rear tyre, which is widest in the air-cooled 125cc segment. Braking duties are handled by a 276mm disc at front (largest in its segment), with segment first single-channel ABS or combined braking system (CBS) varying as per the variant.
Coming to features, the bike comes with full-LED lighting and also segment first hazard lights. The instrument console is a negative LCD unit that displays speed, fuel level, gear position and gives out readouts like tachometer along with odometer and tripmeters. It also gets Bluetooth connectivity for call and SMS alerts.
The bike is offered in 3 colours: Cobalt Blue, Firestorm Red and Stallion Black. It will reach dealerships on February 20, 2024. Other than the TVS Raider, it also competes with other sporty 125cc bikes in the market such as the Bajaj Pulsar NS125 and the Honda SP 125.

Looks-wise, the best bike in the 125cc segment, and the mileage is very good at 50 kmpl. Riding comfort is good for daily city usage, and the servicing cost is very low.
