All 3 variants feature the same electric motor setup with identical output figures
Hero MotoCorp ventured into the Indian electric scooter market with its Vida sub-brand. While the initial progress was slow, Vida is now catching up with its competitors. The recently launched Vida V2 retains many features from the outgoing V1, but the introduction of the more affordable V2 Lite makes it accessible to a wider range of buyers. Let us explore the key differences between the Vida V2 and the V1.
Design
Visually, the Vida V2 and V1 are quite similar, with both scooters retaining the same design. However, a closer inspection reveals one subtle change: the redesigned handlebar shroud. Other design elements such as the quirky headlight, smooth body panels, split-seat setup, and unique rear end are carried over from the V1.
Variants
The Vida V2 has a total of 3 variants: Pro, Plus, and Lite. The V2 Lite is the most affordable Vida yet, priced at Rs 96,000 (ex-showroom).
While the V1 was available in 2 variants: Plus and Pro. The V1 Plus was the lower variant of the 2.
Battery
Regarding battery pack capacity, the V2 Plus and Pro continue with their respective 3.44kWh and 3.94kWh battery packs, same as the V1 Plus and Pro respectively. While the V2 Lite gets a 2.2kWh battery pack. All Vida electric scooters feature removable and swappable batteries.
Range
The Vida V1 Plus had a claimed Indian Driving Cycle (IDC) range of 143km on a single charge. Whereas the V1 Pro had an IDC range of 165km.
The same IDC range figures of 143km & 165km are carried over to the V2 Plus & Pro, respectively. While the V2 Lite has a claimed range of 94km on a full charge.
Motor
Both the V1 Plus and Pro featured the same PMSM electric motor, producing 5.9kW (peak) and 25Nm. The V2 retains the same 5.9kW motor configuration across all three variants, producing the same figures as the V1.
Performance
However, there is a difference in performance. Both the V1 variants had a claimed top speed of 80km/h.
While the V2 Plus has a claimed top speed of 85km/h, the V2 Pro reaches a top speed of 90km/h, and the V2 Lite has a claimed top speed of 69km/h.
Features
There are no significant additions or changes in the features list between the V1 and V2, and many features are common across all three V2 variants. These include a 7-inch TFT display with OTA updates and incoming call alerts, day/night modes, follow-me headlights, keyless entry, cruise control, electronic seat and handle lock, as well as two-way throttle for regen and reverse.
Ride Modes
The V1 Plus got three riding modes: Eco, Ride, and Sport. The V1 Pro added a Custom mode as well, taking the total ride modes to four.
The V2 Lite offers two modes: Eco and Ride. The V2 Plus introduces an additional ‘Sport’ mode, while the V2 Pro offers a ‘Custom’ mode, bringing the total to four ride modes.
Pricing
The Vida V1 Plus was available at a price of Rs 1,19,900 and the Pro was priced at Rs 1,49,900 (ex-showroom).
Now, the starting price has dropped to Rs 96,000, due to the introduction of the Lite variant. The V2 Plus is priced at Rs 1,15,000 and the Pro is available at Rs. 1,35,000 (ex-showroom).
BikeDekhoSays
The rebranding of the Vida electric scooter should help boost interest in the product. While the V2 doesn’t introduce major changes over the V1, this could actually work in its favor as the scooter was just starting to gain traction with EV buyers. And, now the scooter has become more value for money thanks to the introduction of a lower priced variant as well as price cuts on the Plus and Pro variants.
