Hero Electric & Mahindra Partnership Rolls Out First E-scooter

The first electric scooter is none other than the Hero Electric Optima, one of the company’s highest selling models

The first electric scooter is none other than the Hero Electric Optima, one of the company’s highest selling models

In January this year, Hero Electric announced that it’ll join hands with the Mahindra & Mahindra group to ramp up production. The first Hero Electric scooter, as part of this partnership, has rolled out from Mahindra & Mahindra’s Pithampur plant. And it is none other than the Hero Electric Optima

In this partnership, the Hero Electric Optima and Nyx will be made at Mahindra's Pithampur plant to scale up the production volume of these scooters. And in turn, Hero Electric will share its electric two-wheeler know-how with Mahindra. This will help Mahindra manufacture EVs under its own name and even under Peugeot.

Coming to the scooter, the Optima is one of Hero Electric’s more popular products. It has features, including a digital instrument cluster, USB charging, LED lighting, and the recently-equipped cruise control.

The scooter is powered by a 1.2kW motor and has a claimed range of 82km. Hero Electric calls it a ‘City Speed’ e-scooter, with top speed restricted to just 42kmph.

Bookings for the Hero Electric Optima are on pause at the moment. But with its production in full swing, we can expect the electric scooter to go on sale soon. The Optima currently retails at Rs 55,580 (ex-showroom Delhi).

The EV goes up against the Bounce Infinity and the Ampere Magnus Pro.
