It gets more than just cosmetic updates

Hero Xtreme 160R Stealth Edition 2.0

Hero MotoCorp has launched the Xtreme 160R Stealth Edition 2.0 in India at a price tag of Rs 1,29,738 (ex-showroom Delhi). It commands a premium of Rs 5,932 over its predecessor, the Stealth Edition 1.0. But apart from the price difference, what else has changed in the newly launched bike? We explain.

Colour

The Hero Xtreme Stealth Edition 2.0 comes dipped in a beautiful matte black shade. However, killing its stealthy appeal are the contrasting bright red painted bits like the fork tubes, engine head, pillion footrest and grab rail along with the graphics and rim stickers.

Bodywork

Even though the design of the bike has stayed the same as its predecessor, the Stealth Edition 2.0 gets a slightly larger belly pan which should offer better protection, and knuckle guards, which look out of place on a naked bike.

Features

Similar to the previous model, the newly launched bike too gets a negative LCD console, but with one interesting update: It now gets smartphone connectivity as standard which features geo fence alert, speed alert, topple alert and towaway alert. These features are also available on the standard bike as an optional accessory.

That said, it still misses out on the turn-by-turn navigation and call/sms alerts, which its rival, the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, boasts of.

Apart from the above-mentioned bits, the naked bike remains unchanged and is powered by the same 163cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine, producing 15.2PS and 14Nm.

Summing up, the Hero Xtreme 160R does command a significant price hike, but also tries its best to justify it with the features update. It rivals the likes of the Bajaj Pulsar N160, TVS Apache RTR 160 4V, Suzuki Gixxer and the Bajaj Pulsar NS160.
