The GST rate for this segment has been reduced from 28% to 18%, which means that bikes in this category will now be significantly cheaper. To put this into perspective, for a motorcycle priced at Rs 1 lakh, buyers can save about Rs 10,000 just from the reduced tax.

As smaller capacity two-wheelers are now more affordable, making them more accessible to regular buyers. On the other hand, bigger bikes are getting more expensive, as the government now sees them as luxury items. This has surely disappointed bike enthusiasts. Since the change comes right before the festive season, demand for budget-friendly bikes is likely to grow, while sales of premium models will drop.
