Harley-Davidson Street 750 And Street Rod Poor Sales Explained

Harley-Davidson sold zero units of the Street 750 and Street Rod in the month of February

Harley-Davidson sold zero units of the Street 750 and the Street Rod in the month of February

  • The sales were affected by the recall issued last month.
  • The recall was issued due to faulty brakes.
  • Nearly 44,000 units were recalled worldwide.

As per the latest sales reports online, Harley-Davidson’s Street 750 and Street Rod saw a huge decline in sales in the month of February 2019. The company sold zero units of both the motorcycles in the month of February. Now, before you consider both the models as disasters and that the decline in sales is due to the rise in competition, here’s what you need to know about the sales drop.

After speaking to a Harley official, it has come to our knowledge that the sales were affected by the recall issued last month by the company over faulty brakes. The piston bores were prone to rust, affecting the overall braking performance of these bikes. The company decided against selling faulty motorcycles to customers and paused it for that period. Nearly 44,000 units manufactured from 2016 onwards were affected due to this issue. You can read our detailed report here.

This wasn’t the first time that Harley-Davidson issued a recall in India. Back in 2015, the company had recalled the Street 750 over faulty fuel pump seal.

Both the motorcycles share the same 749cc, liquid cooled engine which produces 62Nm of max torque. While the Street 750 features telescopic front forks and dual rear dampers, the Street Rod gets 43mm inverted forks up front and piggyback shocks at the rear.
