Harley-Davidson India completed six years in the country since the time they started India-operations in 2010. The company holds around 60 percent of market share in the 601cc plus motorcycle segment in the country.
Harley-Davidson has achieved this through their strong 13-bike lineup and increasing number of dealership in cities like Guwahati, Ludhiana, Indore, Jaipur, Surat, Nagpur, Lucknow and Coimbatore, plus more coming in Dehradun and Delhi. They recently launched their first merchandise-only showroom at the International Airport in Mumbai.
Harley-Davidson has a first-of-its-kind mobile dealership called Legend on Tour. Passport to Freedom is a program that is encouraging new riders by introducing them to techniques that help them become better riders. Harley Rock Riders, Harley-Davidson’s annual motorcycle and music festival, also gathered momentum for the brand in its tour across New Delhi, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Jaipur and Nagpur.
The company has 26 Harley Owners’ Group (H.O.G.) chapters with more than 7,000 H.O.G. members in the country currently with regular experiential group rides all over the country being a regular occurrence. H.O.G Assist is an on-road assistance program, provides support to members, irrespective of their location and distance from the nearest dealership.
Vikram Pawah, Managing Director, Harley-Davidson India said,“In 2016, we created powerful connections with new riders and strengthened our bond with our existing riders through our customer-led outreach. With 24 outlets in 21 cities and 60 percent market share, we are looking to take the momentum forward into the years to come.”
The bikemaker launched two bikes for 2017, the Roadster and Road Glide Special. With the two bikes, Harley Davidson has a total of 13 bikes on sale in the country today.

- Perfect CruiserI doubt if even harley can ever remake this beast. 7 years of ownership and almost 25k kms driven and every time I ride, the experience is unreal. The engine roars when you ride it. The torque is overkill for the cities but on highways the bike merges with your soul as you accelerate. There are no much electronics, just a small instrument cluster, no fancy features or high end technology.
