Harley Davidson and Suzuki bikes attract small town buyers at Expo

Till now, it was believed that expensive vehicles are mainly liked by customers residing in metro and big cities. But from ongoing Auto Expo 2012 this myth is going to end. As per the recent reports from Auto Expo 2012, the superbikes like Harley Davidson FXDB Street Bob and Suzuki Hayabusa from big giants like Harley Davidson and Suzuki Bikes have succeeded in grabbing the attention of customers not only from metro cities but also from cities like Guwahati, Bhubaneswar, Lucknow, Bellary and Indore. As an impact of this trend now, leading companies are speculating to establish their service outlets in these cities and also finding out new partners and dealers who can be appointed as dealers of company in these regions.

Commenting on this trend, Mr. Anoop Prakash, Managing Director, Harley Davidson India said, that demographic similarity between Delhi and Bhubaneswar. According to Mr. Prakash, the enthusiast of these bikes in these cities are young, professionally settled and who enjoy bike riding as their hobby. Mr. Prakash feels that this shift reveals India’s tradition of buying expensive bike riding habits of customers. He also informed that as a part of its expansion plan. company is now speculating to set up its showroom in non-metro cities like Kochi and Jaipur. Mr. Prakash added that in coming months there will be more demand from these cities, according to him company is waiting to opportunities when there will be high demand for cruiser bikes.

On the other side, Mr. Atul Gupta, Vice-President Sales and Marketing, Suzuki Motorcycles India said that development of information technology has played a major role in making people aware in these cities about availability of these bikes in India. Detailing about the sales statistics of these bikes, Mr. Gupta said that though there is not much demand and growth is negligence. According to him during 2011, company sold out 286 units of Suzuki superbikes from January to December.
