Yamaha XSR155 India vs International-Spec Bike: Differences Explained
The India-spec Yamaha XSR155 costs less, but is still better in terms of features
Yamaha has finally launched the XSR155 in India, priced at Rs 1,49,990 (ex-showroom, Delhi). This has been something that Yamaha fans were craving for a long time. Afterall, the bike was first launched Indonesian and Thai markets way back in 2019, and it instantly became viral on the internet because of its sweet retro styling and R15-shared performance.
That said, the India-spec Yamaha XSR155 isn’t exactly the same as the one sold abroad. Here’s a quick and easy breakdown of what sets them apart:
Colour Options
The India-spec XSR155 is available in four colour options: Metallic Grey, Vivid Red, Greyish Green Metallic, and Metallic Blue. They all look really good, and will appeal to both young, as well as mature, buyers. We personally prefer the Metallic Blue shade, as it makes the XSR155 look more like the bigger Yamaha XSR900, especially with the blue-coloured inverted fork. Also, as for the grey coloured version, we’d have liked it if it came with the light beige coloured seat cover - just like the Silver coloured bike sold abroad.
The international-spec XSR155 is available in only three colour options: Metallic Brown, Metallic Black, and Matte Silver. While the brown shade looks a bit sophisticated, the other two colours are relatively less fancy. We’d have liked it if the brown colour version came with the gold-finished fork instead of the black one.
Features
In the features department, the India-spec Yamaha XSR155 is quite ahead, as it comes with LED indicators. In contrast, the one sold abroad gets a pair of fatter, bulb-type indicators. While both bikes feature an LCD console, the one on the Indian-spec version comes with smartphone connectivity via Yamaha’s Y-Connect application. It allows for features like SMS/call alerts, basic ride analytics, and last parked location. The console on the international-spec XSR155 misses out on all of this.

The Indian-spec Yamaha XSR155 uses the same alloy wheels, as on the R15 and MT-15. The design is clean and goes well with the minimalistic vibe of the XSR. Along with this, the bike also runs on road-biased tyres, the MRF Zapper at the front and Revz-S at the rear.
On the other hand, the alloy wheel design on the international-spec Yamaha XSR155 is different. We really like this one, though. It also runs on block-pattern tyres. Sure, it gives a slightly rugged character, but doesn’t really go well with the retro theme of the bike, in our opinion. That said, riding on light trails should be better with these tyres.
Accessories
The Indian-spec Yamaha XSR155 is available with two customisation kits: the Cafe Racer Kit and the Scrambler Kit, both of which allow buyers to completely change the look of their motorcycle at a reasonable cost. Along with this, Yamaha India also offers loads of accessories for the XSR155, like crash guards, a radiator guard, adjustable levers, phone mounts, and more. The India-spec bike also gets saree guard - something that’s legally required on Indian bikes.
In comparison, the international-spec bike does not offer any custom kits, and the list of accessories is also quite short. Notable ones include a flyscreen, rear number plate holder, side panel covers, radiator cover, and skid plates.

The India-spec Yamaha XSR155 is, overall, a much better package, especially at its introductory price. It not only comes with brighter colour options, more features, but also more comprehensive factory-fit customisation kits.

Stylish and mileage is good. The bike looks are amazing and the bike gives 42kmpl mileage in city. It is e85 compliant so you don't need to worry about fuel cost. Yahama have a good service and you usually get any parts of the bike easily. Seeing this bike for the first time on road was nothing short of fabulous and i decided to buy it, the next day only, my personal experience has a lot of ups and down. - week 1 gear shifting was buttery smooth bus after 500kms it got stiff and rigid - mirrors do not suit the bike at all - very impressive performance - 10/10 road presence - suspension is slightly rigid in city commute - riding posture is a mix of sporty and aggressive - engine feels very smooth yet powerful at the same time overall the experience has been great, if you are looking for a bike for daily commute with a punch of power and occasional long rides, would 100% recommend buying it eyes closed, more importantly if you want a bike that makes you smile when you look at it, go for it.Read More
I choose this bike because of performance and mileage. Everything is perfect in the bike and the look and design is really awesome. It looks like a racer bike. This bike suit me a lot because I am 5.6. The performance of this bike is really awesome.
