KTM 390 Adventure R Confirmed For India Launch In 2026

Our sources confirmed that the international-spec KTM 390 Adventure R will make its way to India in 2026. The bike will be launched at the KTM Adventure Rally that will be held from 27 February to 3 March 2026. This is significant news for hardcore adventure motorcycle enthusiasts, especially those who’ve felt that the current 390 Adventure leans more towards touring than serious off-road riding. KTM is also likely to retail the 390 Adventure R on an order-only basis, hinting at limited volumes rather than a full-scale mass-market rollout.
What Makes The Adventure R Different?
The biggest changes on the 390 Adventure R are centred around its off-road hardware. Unlike the regular KTM 390 Adventure sold in India, the R version gets long-travel suspension borrowed directly from the international-spec 390 Enduro R, which is already available in our market. Suspension travel stands at a substantial 230mm (30mm more than the regular 390 ADV) at both ends, making it far more capable when the terrain gets rough.
Wheel sizes also change significantly. The Adventure R runs a proper 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoke wheel setup, replacing the 21/17-inch combination on the standard bike. These wheels are shod with knobby Mitas tyres, again shared with the KTM 390 Enduro R, further reinforcing the bike’s off-road intent.
As a result of the longer suspension travel and larger rear wheel, the ground clearance and the seat height have gone up to 272mm and 870mm, respectively. That’s a noticeable jump over the 230mm ground clearance and 830mm seat height of the current India-spec standard 390 Adventure. It clearly signals that this bike is aimed at experienced riders who prioritise off-road performance over accessibility.
Same Engine, Same Features
Beyond these mechanical upgrades, the KTM 390 Adventure R remains largely unchanged. It continues to be powered by the same 399cc single-cylinder engine producing 46PS and 39Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The feature list is also expected to remain identical to the standard bike, which anyway is properly loaded with goodies.
Expected Price And Positioning
Given the specialised hardware and limited availability, the 390 Adventure R is expected to command a fair premium over the outgoing standard version, which is priced at Rs 3,94,699 (ex-showroom, Delhi). Expect the Adventure R to land somewhere around Rs 4.25 lakh, making it one of the most serious small-capacity off-road adventure motorcycles sold in India.
