Hero Xpulse 150 vs Impulse 150: Image Comparison

Here's how the new kid on the block compares to India’s first-ever dual-sport motorcycle

Hero MotoCorp showcased the Xpulse 150 at EICMA 2026. It is the smallest member of the Xpulse family and is primarily made for the Latin American and African markets. Here's how it compares to the now-discontinued Hero Impulse 150:

Design

The biggest differentiating factor between the two Hero bikes is probably the design, with the Xpulse 150 looking a lot more modern than the Impulse 150, which by today's standards looks quite barebones and utilitarian.

The Xpulse 150 gets modern touches like an LED headlight with integrated DRLs, a tall windscreen for wind protection, a high-mounted fender, a single-piece seat, and a rear luggage rack. Its overall design inspiration has elements taken from both the Xpulse 200 and the Xpulse 210, which gives it a more modern look.

The Impulse 150, on the other hand, had a simpler design with a halogen headlight, a high-mounted fender, a high-mounted exhaust, and minimalistic side panels that gave it a utilitarian and rugged look.

Engine

Both bikes have similar engine configurations, with a 150 cc carburetted, air-cooled, single-cylinder engine and a 5-speed gearbox. However, the older Impulse had more power at 13.2 PS and 13.4 Nm compared to the Xpulse 150, which makes 12.2 PS and 12.8 Nm.

Underpinnings

Both bikes use a simple double-cradle frame along with a telescopic fork and a monoshock. Both bikes also ride on a 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel setup with dual-purpose tyres. The Xpulse 150 has disc brakes at both ends, while the Impulse had a disc brake at the front and a drum brake at the rear.

However, the main difference is in the bikes' dimensions:

Features

In terms of features, the Xpulse 150 gets an LCD console, all-LED lighting, a USB Type-C charging port and single-channel ABS for additional safety. The Impulse, on the other hand, had a semi-digital instrument console. However, it did not get LED lights, a charging port, or ABS for safety.

BikeDekho Says

The Xpulse 150 appears to be a simple yet capable bike that is primarily targeted at Latin American countries. With its simple 150 cc engine and simple yet capable hardware, it can be a good entry-level dual-sport bike, just as the Hero Impulse was before it was discontinued in 2017. We hope Hero brings the Xpulse 150 to India, as it will be a great spiritual successor to the OG Impulse 150.
