Upcoming BMW F 450 R: Here Is What To Expect

BMW Motorrad is gearing up to unveil a new compact streetfighter, and it is expected to be called the BMW F 450 R. The motorcycle has been teased ahead of its global debut and is likely to become the brand’s most affordable streetfighter. Based on the F 450 GS platform, the upcoming roadster will share its engine and some hardware with the adventure motorcycle, but will have a more road-focused character.
What Will It Look Like?
The teaser suggests that the F 450 R will have a compact and aggressive design. While the overall silhouette appears to share some similarities with the F 450 GS, the streetfighter is expected to feature a sharper stance, muscular fuel tank and a sportier tail section.
The motorcycle is also likely to have exposed mechanical components and a compact roadster-like profile. Its relatively small dimensions could make it easier to handle in city traffic while also giving it a more agile character on winding roads.
Engine And Performance
The F 450 R is expected to use the same 420 cc parallel-twin engine as the F 450 GS. On the adventure motorcycle, this engine produces around 48 PS and is paired with a six-speed gearbox.
However, BMW could give the engine different tuning for the streetfighter. Revised engine mapping and gearing could make it more responsive at lower speeds and provide quicker acceleration when exiting corners. The exact specifications will be confirmed at the global unveiling.
What Features And Hardware Can We Expect?
The F 450 R is expected to share its chassis and braking hardware with the F 450 GS, although BMW could introduce a different suspension setup. Since it will be designed primarily for road use, the suspension could receive firmer tuning and potentially a lower ride height. Details about its electronics, instrument console, riding modes and other features have not been revealed yet.
India Launch And Expected Price
BMW Motorrad will unveil the F 450 R globally on October 1, 2026. The motorcycle is expected to make its way to India sometime next year, although BMW has not confirmed an exact launch timeline.
If launched, the F 450 R could be priced at around Rs 4.50 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). It will take on motorcycles such as the Aprilia Tuono 457, entering an increasingly competitive middleweight streetfighter segment.
